Oldtimers....remember this guy....John Cardillo???
« on: October 15, 2017, 07:27:35 AM »
John Cardillo from Canada? Bob Kennedy and his MuscleMag used to push the shit out of him in the early 80's. Trained crazy brief Nautilus style 1 set. Super low calorie diet with a scoop of ice cream before bed. Guy was shredded and dry before others were...but always looked stringy. Used to bother me seeing his face. Had the face of a prick. From what I have recently read...he was a huge prick and scammer of money. So...I guessI was correct.

If I recall....like 800 calories max. I knew a lot of guys in the late 80's that dieted for shows on under 1000 calories a day. I did it for most of my shows. Crazy low calories always worked well for me and I never had issues with low energy or much muscle loss. But it is not for everybody. You kinda have to only eat 2 meals a day or else your meals are way too small.

LOL....you just made me remember that. Yes...he was all into that electro shit. And I remember Mike Mentzer pushing that shit too...in his post 80 O days. Around 81,82 and 83.

how low is low?

I am sorting it out now and really digging deep with my diet. a few things I have realized - i am a mesomorph and function better running a light on calories - if you an ecto - always run on more calories

all of my calories are from superfoods (or high quality calories), moderate to high carb, low low fat, moderate protein at 228lbs (offseason) i am only getting in 150-175g of protein a day in.

all superfood type meals/foods, high veggie intake, no refined sugars.  i only drink blac decaf coffee or herbal tea (used to add all kinds of crap to it)

I am working on a sustainable diet that will keep  me under 8% in the off season, easy to maintain and easy to enjoy. so far so good. also i do not do scheduled cheat meals. cheat meals occur when they occur. last week i was at a weddding, this week is my bday etc. so i will go 20 days with zero cheat meals then ill cheat and not even think twice about it

dieting is def a work in progress. cutting margins, refining it, its fun

To be fair, this isn't the weight belt guy. That's Steve Cardillo out of New England. John Cardillo is out of Canada, and had a huge gym business at one point, where books went sour, and hurt some customers, etc.....

the difference between two people calorific intakes all things considered is around 200 cals, thats for someone with a fast metabolism as opposed to a slow.

I remember he use to fast one day a week when getting ripped. Never heard of a bodybuilder doing that. He made waves doing two sets per exercise but then he was one of the first bodybuilders to do one work set. It was almost of unheard of at the time.

My memory is foggy on this one but I think I remember that he used to eat most of his carbs at night in one meal? I think it was muffins?

He founded and ran Premier Fitness for I guess a couple of decades. Over the years there was alot of complaints from both members/former employees/suppliers.

A few years ago there was news he got cancer and sold the chain
