I assume your profession is "practical," right? Yet, you prefer not working half the time. I'm guessing you don't much care for the other half either?

Job I lost was maintenance engineering in heavy industry, we worked when needed and were on stand by the rest of time, of course I’m going to prefer not grafting hard every hour at work anyone would, returned now to building work self employed so how much I earn is more closely related to how hard I work. Care plenty for the other half and give her whatever she wants within reason same with the kids?
Is there a point to this?

By "other half" I meant "the other half of your work". What I'm getting at is, maybe you're too high on practical work? There are other ways to find success.

For example, lots of kids with an interest in computer games and YouTube go on to work in the industries that pay for all the buildings that "practical types" work on. I'm not saying these jobs are necessarily better, being in one myself, but I still wouldn't trade my spot with a construction worker.

I'm sure my dad has thought about me in the same way you're describing your own son, at times. He probably still does. I wouldn't know; I don't care to talk with him anymore.

I didn't learn much from him, certainly not how to fix cars or build houses, both things he excels at. But I did learn one important lesson: your kids won't have your same values, unless they grow up under your same circumstances. And they never do. Modern faggotries didn't exist when you were a kid, by definition; if they had, are you sure you'd feel the same way about them?

To be honest I’d rather my son get a decent education and work a similar job to you, I do what I do out of necessity, it’s all I ever was good at although he is adamant he wants to work with me when he leaves school but I really want better for him and his mother especially does. As long as he learns practical skills along the way so I don’t end up around at his house when he leaves home doing every little job/repair for him. A balance between the two would be perfect

Key lime?  You should be so lucky.

I'd be more concerned about this:

What in the foreign fuck is that?

I'd visit him but I'd bring a cleaning service with me.
