Personal Training......
« on: November 09, 2017, 11:34:15 AM »
What are people's thoughts on becoming a personal trainer at a local gym, such as You Fit or Planet Fitness? I was thinking about getting an ACE Personal Training Certificate and working at one of these locations. I know someone who works for You Fit.

Which one would be best to do?

very outdated profession unless you are into sports medicine ... in the long run no real money in it unless you are a trainer to the Hollywood crowd....

Agreed.

By the time you have paid gym fees and insurance you will be on next to nothing if your target market is average Joe.  Very congested market and IMO you need a big edge these days to stand out: superb shape, private gym, pro status, medical/scientific quals or as much as it pains me, social media status.

Any of the above, you stand a chance of earning good money.

Being a 'Rent a trainer' in planet fitness working with Joe public isn't going to set you bank account on fire.

Making up never seen before shitty far less effective variations of traditional exercises that have worked fine for decades is the key to personal training success these days

Yeah, but I was thinking about putting a new spin on my training--combining weight training with kettle ball exercises.

Why?

Free weights for mass and freedom of movement.

Hammer strength for strict, controlled slow reps.

Kettle balls for conditioning.
