How long does it take you to recover from a drinking session?
« on: November 14, 2017, 11:45:32 AM »
It seems to be taking me longer and longer. Went out Saturday evening until Sunday morning, few vodkas, beers and lines. Still feel ruined. Last time it took me a full week. Think its time to call it a day with all this!  :-[

I stopped all that shit a few years ago when I met my wife. I was getting wrecked every weekend. My body had about enough, toward the end it would take me until about Thursday to feel completely normal again. I'm glad those days are over one good thing about being married!!

I basically quit heavy drinking about 12 years ago, thank god.I started to feel like shit for a few days then a week.I drank around 5-7 beers a few months ago and felt like shit for days as well.If I drank like I used to today I bet it would take around 10-14 days to recover.Fuck that shit it’s not worth it.

Alcohol is awesome when you are with your really good friends and you want to have a good time and bond.

Don’t drink much now but when I do I’m generally fine the next day, when I still drank every weekend it was getting harder and harder to recover sometimes lasting two days hungover.

I used to buy the cheapest vodka the shop had thinking it didn’t matter as the end result was the same, stopping drinking that vile shit also lessened the hangovers significantly

Drinking with you mates definitely makes it loads better, part reason I stopped drinking very often was that drinking with the gf is fucking shit

Yeah I stopped binge drinking drinking in general when I got to the point of being able to drink 20 oz of vodka and some diet pop in 10 mins. After a bit, I used to get the classic 'feeling of impending doom' as a part of the hangover. Would make it seem as if my world were going to end and I'd get crippling anxiety, have panic attacks. I wouldn't feel normal for days despite all the cardio and working out I'd do in an attempt to feel better. I found foods with magnesium like walnuts or almonds seriously helped me with that feeling of freaking out.

Had lots of great times, but no thanks. Not anymore.

drinking is same as lifting weights

you need to drink to failure and then beyond failure, superset that shit

then you need a lot of recovery time

If we do like a FRI and SAT night of pretty good drinking, I'm hung over normally (if that makes any sense) on SUN, but then extremely anxious as hell on MON (like shaking) weird side effect that only recently started.
Thank god for GABA and Phenibut.
TUE at 5 AM back in the gym feeling normal. So when I do, do it, MON is the freakin' worst...

I was raised in an excessively alcoholic family and was drinking a lot by the age of 14 but by the time I was in HS ... I had had my full as the 'thrill" of being drunk and doing crazy drunken things was gone and over.

But all my friends were just beginning to enter the drunken underworld, so I became the somewhat sane and sober driver, care-giver, and bail bonds guy for every friend who puked on the sidewalks of San Francisco  every Friday and Saturday night during my 4 years  of  high school sobriety.

But one HS  Friday night I fell off the wagon and  fooked up every scene I was in ....  in one of those Frank Sinatra movies you've probably  never seen. (But I did manage to sorta impress Kim Novak who broke a smile but looked like she wanted to get a little buzz-on herself.)

That single smile managed to make her heavy make-up crack. But that's a story for another generation.

I suggest that you should all drink and get soused on occasion, but let a sober guy or gal do the driving  ...... and don't fook up movie scenes even though the other more experienced scene stealers are more fooked up than you are ...... but they are usually good enough to "act" otherwise and receive big awards/rewards for doing so.

Gonna grab a Rum and Coke right now ... but only one.

Hair of the dog usually worked for me in those younger years.

But an even better hang-over remedy was a long swim a few yards off-shore in the Pacific of San Francisco's Sunset neighborhood.

I don't think any living individual with a hang-over has ever spent more time on and in  that fog bound shoreline than myself.
