Make sure you bend your knees when you are getting your ass reamed from behind.

Based on personal experience?

Foam rolling and stretching is the answer.

The massage option is good too, but generally not realistic week in, week out.

Yup ^^

I find stretching, backing off of DL's, inversion, foam roller, reverse hypers (or regular hypers) really help my disc issues...

Twice a week massage does wonders.  Only 30 minutes and have her work on your back, and glutes too.

You can afford two massages a week?!!? You must be rich.

So you move on from sucking dick to taking dick. Good for you, but we don't need to hear about you kicking the closet door open on here. Focus. :D

Given that, co-pay could still make it 50+ bucks a week.

I would get one, as Mr. Anabolic suggested, then switch to aggressive rolling and stretching.   I've been able to work up to rolling on baseballs, and it's helped tremendously.

-Deadlift with less weight
-buy two massage balls and roll along your spine from closest to most distant
-lie on the balls(massage one) where latter are put under your Sacroiliac joints and in steps along the ribs(back, front and sides)
-massage your neck and skull... this is where most back problems begin

Depends on insurance company. I know for a fact that blue cross blue shield of Texas doesn’t cover it.

Funny story about massage. I went to a lady’s place that a friend recommended a couple years back. It was at her house, but she claimed to be a license massage therapist. Which I thought a little weird at the time. I brought my GF with me, she was sitting in the living room on her phone as I was getting my massage. Half way through, the “massage therapist”  then proceeded to grab my dick and starting jacking me off. I told her to stop as quickly and quietly as I could. She then told, “ oh, your girlfriend wouldn’t like that?” I’m like no shit.
I realized then why my friend like it there, and also don’t go to random bitches houses to get massages, especially not with your gf in tow.

If I am not in pain or injured, I go less often.  30 min is actually a long time if you have her concentrate on just one or two areas.  I often pay cash out of pocket.  The massage therapists in my area that are covered under my insurance are not so great.  I go to a Chinese woman from Shanghai.  She is a deep muscle massage expert.  She finds every lesion/problem and works them all.  Most knowledgeable masseuse I ever had.

Wish I was.
I told my GF about it because i didn’t want that lady “massaging” my gf and I didn’t do anything. Big mistake, I got accused of know what kind of place it was and embarrassing her. Becuase if I wanted a handjob from a stranger I would take her along, right?  ???

Ok yeah chiropractor is cover, deep tissue isn’t.
Spinal decompression therapy is the best for spinal pressure IMO.

This works for me. Might not work for you. Could make it worst. Consult a doctor.

1. Weighted standard back extensions holding a plate behind my head. The new 45 degree benches are terrible. The resistance drops off at the top. I use an old school horizontal back extension bench. I'll put a picture of the type of hyper bench that's best.

2. Semi stiff leg deadlifts off a block to get a stretch. Very slowly and under control go deep and use low reps like 2 sets of 6.

3. Hanging ab leg raises with ab straps. While you're working abs you are stretching out your spine.

4. When deadlifting never jerk the bar off the ground. I know this leads to more weight you can use but it's a recipe to wreck your back. A smooth gradual application of force to get the bar off the floor.

5. Gentle stretching of the hamstrings and lower back. If you force flexibility you will aggravate your back and make it worst.

6. Walk for cardio or run. This will often fix back issues. We sit too much. We drive to work, sit at work and then go to the gym and sit in machines. Training delts stand. Standing military press and dumbbell press. Make sure many of your exercises are a form of standing.

7. Work your abs with an old fashion $10 ab wheel. Do a couple of sets from your knees and roll out as far as you can and back. ABs in my opinion are there to protect you organs. They have a very limited range of motion.  Doing leg raises and sit up variations are working your hip flexors with some ab involvement. Try the ab wheel. I bet your abs will be sore. If it's too easy don't do it from your knees but keep your feet on the floor.

If it's truly just a case of chemically induced pumps and not loose form .........You could try substituting Romanian Deads as your variation during the cycle, still some lower back, but involvement is much reduced if performed as a proper hip hinge - think "moving ass back " not "moving bar down". Once you've got the basic form down - 3-4 heavy sets of 5-8 reps thrown in after squats /front squats 2x/wk will make you a beast in short order.

I have had low back issues since 1988 when I pushed a disc out squatting.

It has plagued me ever since, L4 and L5 both bulging and a slight bulge in one of my thoracic discs.

I have to be very careful doing manual tasks, I very rarely get injured training as I am conscious of maintaining form, I have had far more back spasms tying my shoe laces and sneezing...

I never squat, deadlift , I do all of my dumbbell exercises seated.
I do 4 sets 20 reps stiff leg deadlifts with a 10 kilo plate every workout, this keeps my low back muscles developed enough to stave off spasms.
I also use a foam roller for my mid back every night and also do spine rotations to free off any tightness before I go to bed.
When I stopped training in the late 90s my back went considerably worse as my low back muscles weakened.

Also, google body tempering. Compression is king.

lot of good advice for low back issues here. Inversion table and stretching in the oppposite side of the injury to relieve pressure is probably the best you can do. Strengthening core is a must.

My L5/S1 is completely gone and vertebrae are touching. Here I need pain meds, no opiates though. Never go the opiate route.

If MRI shows bulging, intravertebral corticosteroids ca do wonders. and please stop heavy back breaking exercises, it will make things only much worse to the point where you won't be able to walk...
