Labs are among the friendliest and most predictable dogs out there. I have had several. Loyal to a fault, always happy and I have never seen aggressive behavior.

My daughter has an American Staffordshire Terrier mix (75% terrier from a DNA test). Also a friendly animal but can get wound up at times. That being said, just about any dog can be aggressive under the right circumstances. I had a Siberian Husky/German Shepherd mix that could cause trouble at times (biting, lunging), a Golden Retriever that  was mean as could be if he didn't know you, and a Cocker Spaniel that nipped at people constantly.

To make a claim that a specific breed is a killer is very ignorant.  Some breeds were trained to be fighters because of their physical attributes, not temperament. To say a dog is dangerous because of its breed is like saying all bodybuilders are gay.

No homo.

I do not really like pitbulls and Co.

One friend of mine had a staff and a Dogo and the other a pitbull... huge beast, which looked like a crocodile. The Staffie was ok, but the other two had big aggression towards each other and animals in general, tearing apart cats too many times... overall a waiting time bomb. The people keeping them were both druggies, with the owner of the pitbull knowing that the father of her "baby" was highly aggressive. She weighed less than the dog btw, and I always had a bad feeling when "walking him" as he was walking her. What I could observe with women in certain circles is that they seemed to exhibit a certain "lust" for these dogs because of their fericious nature and power. Pretty sordid crowd to be honest.

I'd rather see them gone along with many other "battle breeds" - we, of course, have to also dispose of their owners. Many dog food factories out there who are in dire need of a secret ingredient  :D

While I agree that any breed could be potentially dangerous, there is a HUGE qualitative difference between cockerspaniels and pitbulls in terms of their ability to cause physical harm. So, yes, while all dogs can be dangerous, its quite clear that some dogs are worse than others in their ability to cause physical harm. Ill take an attack from a cockerspaniel over a pitbull any day.

I mean, what breed do you stand a better chance against if being attacked?

Exactly.always have a knife and if any dog wants to bite gut them the fuck out and then throw the lifeless bowless body at the owner.

Having been a military dog handler and trainer for 10 years I would just caution anyone who hasn't been viciously attacked by a large breed dog, that what you imagine will happen might not match the reality when it does. You might have enough warning to get a knife out, you might be luckily enough to gut them as they are mauling you but I wouldn't bet on it. Much of the time the attack is brutal, the dog grabs whatever part it can and starts shaking it's head back and forth violently, hard to maintain balance, it's moving around fast and will try and avoid getting hit, kicked etc if you can manage it. But yeah, if you have warning, are able to get the knife out and land a disabling stab while being mauled, go ahead and throw the lifeless body at the owner.

how hard is it to knock a dog out? would a kick to the head with steel toe boots do the job?

I have had my rhodesian ridgeback- pitbull mix for 12 years and counting (current pic) she is a beast and alot of work.  Crazy energy levels.  I run her 4x week for 3 miles plus a nightly walk.  I have been doing this for years or she would dig holes in the backyard. She is very alpha and i cannot leave her alone with another dog because of her aggression.  However, she is wonderful around people, babies, and even strangers on the street.  I dont recommend this dog for everyone, be safe and get a lab. God Bless.

Take a look at the people who usually own pit bulls?

White trash Eminem trailer park, Hebrews from south central or cholos from El Monte

I’ve heard you should shove a finger all the way up a dogs ass if attacking, any truth to this?

solid connection with a lot of power would certainly stun the dog, possibly knock it unconscious but it's easier said than done unless it's distracted
