Missed it..my bad...seems like its all about an inch increment to each category.
Thanks for posting this, ive been waiting for them to announce the new weight classes.
This is an attempt to alleviate bloated mass monsters and get back to asthetics. Maybe make bodybuilding more popular to the general public again.
then why are they increasing the body weights of the competitors? They are doing exactly the opposite..
Trying to bring back the look of 80's early 90's bbng.
They review board team should have made this chart increase for the NPC as well. The NPC definitely needs weight limit increases in classic physique.
What do you mean an inch increment? How much pound increment per category compared to prior? How much pound increment compared to NPC amateur?
There is no need for weight limits ,all they have to do is change the judge criteria ( penalize huge guts ,penalize over-sized body parts ,small calves, lack of proportions....)a classic physique have nothing to do with numbers ,this just another way for the NPC/IFBB to make more moneyThis is not a classic physique ,too heavyCalves-less ,arm less IFBB Pro classic physique competitor
190 with 16 inch arms,,,, IMPRESSIVE
Wiggs is back
Yes, and gyno too. At least in 1981. Arms may have been 17", but very short. Franco was great, conditioning-wise, and VERY strong, but not without fault. He is still alive now, and I believe he is over 70 - may even be 75. I can't recall his birth year. So hey.
This is not a classic physique ,too heavy
Greetings,A guy 5'8 up to 5'9 can be 200lbs. A guy 5'9 up to 5'10 can be 207lbs. A guy 6'1 up to 6'2 can be 240lbsKeep in mind this is the weigh ins, onstage they'll be a couple around 3 - 5 lbs heavier. We are now imo the sweet spot for the weights. I expected the weights to increase until they reached a sweet spot. I think this is it. Robby Robinson was 5'8 205 in his prime. Arnold around 235-240 at 6'1. I think next year we're going to see some great physiques in Classic and we'll continue to see the open diminish in popularity and Classic Physique increase. Eventually, as I stated before they even started this division, it will overtake the open in popularity. Thoughts?
Is this a better option than just judging based on true aesthetics? It seems like the easiest way to get competitors to adhere to the classic look would just be to mark them down for bloated midsections, lack of taper, asymmetry, etc.
The way they are doing it is more scientific and controllable. The way you are suggesting you’d have to wholesale change who the judges are. In general, people who are motivated enough to endure being a judge are very much into sheer size (district officials, prior competitors, gym owners, individuals with schmoe tendencies of one kind or another, etc., etc.)
The way they are doing it is more scientific and controllable.
A classic aesthetic physique has nothing to do with science or numbers ,either you have it or you don't , many of these ''classic IFBB Pros '' don't have classic physiques, but they meet the height weight requirements.
agreed mate, there has only ever been one Bob Paris, he was the epitome of the male physique.Never equalled. No amount of weightlifting will create another unless the base is there, thats given at birth, it cant be attained through training alone.
