GOOD MORROW!.
I am pleased today to induct the following people into the OFFICIAL GetBig Hall Of Fame.
RON AVIDAN.
Getbig.com was started in 1995 as a place where bodybuilding fans could come, talk about various subjects, and learn about the history, contest results, articles, and other newsworthy subjects related to bodybuilding. Over the years, it has developed into a monster project, although Ron still runs it as a fan for the bodybuilding, figure and fitness community. The site was, and still is a passion that Ron keeps updating on his spare time. While not the only site Ron runs, it is one of his favorites.
Photographer of Fitness, Bodybuilding, Figure and Bikini competitors, on and off the stage, based in Los Angeles. Published in Muscle & Fitness, Flex Magazine, Ironman Magazine, MuscleMag and others. Photographer of the Year (2010) for Bodybuilding.com, as well as the co-founder of Getbig.com and Hardbody.com.
Michael Arvilla.
Mike joined GetBig in 2003 but has been a great influence ever since. Getbig members have watched in awe as Mike has transformed his physique into the shredded one we see today. He’s always helpful, offers guidance and is never hiding behind a keyboard. Mike isn’t afraid to tell it like it is and that is why he is loved by so many members. Sometimes his personal life has interfered with his training and diet but every since getting rid of Laura he’s dialed in quite nicely.
Wes.
Wes is the epitome of better with age. Old school cool meets modern day warrior. Wes has entered many contests and came out on top. At his gym Wes sets his ego aside and always has time to help out “newbies” and has taken a roll as "father figure". Wes remembers the Golden Age of bodybuilding and tries to instill those values of camaraderie in todays competetors. Wes has been a member of GetBig since 2003 and has always helped and answered questions. Was once an “Elf” to a notorious GetBig member which just shows how assisting he truly is.
Only Me/NoWorries
Keith Jones became part of the GetBig community in 2005. Keith was a gentle giant but also had a ferocious side. He was a mighty man that loved arm wrestling, lifting weights and Hawaii.
Many people didn’t know but Keith trained with Ray Metzer, The Barbarian Brothers, Jim Quinn and others. He was friendly and bonded well with people which made it easy for him to be around Hollywood actors. In fact Keith had a small role in Over The Top. He loved playing video games, telling stories and being a practical joker. Strong as an Ox, Keith benched 600 pounds at one point. Some of his greatest posts on GetBig were his friendly feud with fellow member Vince Goodrum. Keith Died January 10, 2011.
Last active post was January 3, 2011.
There you have it. I would like to take the time to thank all the MODS, Board of Directors and the dignitaries that voted. It shows what a great community we have here. I’m grateful for all the members that post each day and show enthusiasm towards the sport of bodybuilding keeping it alive.
Tonight was just a small portion of what type of great individuals we have/had here at GetBig. It’s just the beginning. I thought it was wonderful and only right for Ron Avidan to be the first member for without him, we wouldn’t have such a diverse, funny and informative place. Also, I’d like to thank YOU, the members that come here and log on. On bad days one can log in and read comments that will put a smile on a face. People can come here and find motivation. The Getbig crowd doesn’t like excuses and will light a fire under someones butt. We have our times but in the end agree to disagree and on some matters find common ground. GetBig is nothing like the other forums…ITS BETTER. Its open talk is a breath of fresh air regardless of what issue you’re taking sides on. So in closing, Thank you and Thank you to the Hall Of Famers.
Godspeed!
