I'm starting to buy into global warming, just not the "it's our fault" thing.
These fires out here were brutal and still are in some place. But the wind... the freaking Santa Ana winds. They gusts are strong - at my place it was sometimes 60 mph, but frankly, this time, over the course of 2 days, freaking tore the shingles off my roof, which now forces us to replace the roof (yes, it was due, but did not expect the force of wind and branches, etc).
So these fires, sparked by something or someone by accident, starts burning, and the embers and branches because of these winds, go crazy and far fast. No way can firefighters rush to take out these fires because of the incredible widespread area.
But blaming it on climate change. Screw that. It is because of the Santa Ana winds and the intensity of them, coupled (if we ever find out) fires that were probably made by accident, etc.
We get fires here all the time, small ones by people (Christmas trees, electrical, homeless, car accidents), but when these winds come, man...
