Not 2002 NOC massive but still one of his better showings. I believe he was having injury problems around this time, quad tear at some point but I can't tell... Jay looked like shit at this show, Cormier should have won.

I think that was when Gunter placed 4th, and Ruhl, 5th?  And a female poster - possibly CQ - said that Ruhl was the "better big man" at that show.  Now to check the contest results, to see how closely I remembered that, or if I was totally wrong.

I know that I am in the minority, but he never impressed me. The man weighed 276-282 pounds and was huge, but he was out of proportion. His shoulders were too pointy (synthol). He had no triceps to speak of. His biceps also looked to be filled with oil. Put him next to a PRE-Synthol Nasser El Sonbaty (same height and weight) and I'll take Nasser every time and twice on Sunday.

Put him next to a PRE-Synthol Nasser El Sonbaty (same height and weight) and I'll take Nasser every time and twice on Sunday.

A little odd that he would load synthol into his delts & Bi’s yet not into his Triceps.

Ruhl looks amazing in these IMO. Complete mass monster with tons of muscle.

I agree, I am surprised Ruhl doesn't have more titles to his name and a bigger name altogether in the industry. Can't remember him pushing supplements over the years, perhaps he values his dignity too high for what they were offering to pay.

Biggest freakiest bodybuilder ever.To me should have won multiple Os.Biceps,chest,shoulders,quads and calves above the rest.triceps look subpar due to insane bicep peaks and monstrous shoulders.

His shoulders weren't fully due to "synthol" as if you knew what he shot into his delts 


He had amazing shoulder genetics and he always had top 3 shoulders on whatever stage he was on. He was always one of if not the biggest on the stage as well all while being in great shape. Ruhl was UNDERRATED throughout his bodybuilding career. A fan favorite for sure although the judges sometimes gave him shit.

His triceps were weak and he had weak arm genetics in general. But he had a way better back than nasser and probably had physically bigger quads. Nasser had tons of oils in his biceps as well don't be fooled. It's hard to have a better chest than Ruhl as well.
