Random thoughts...

1. It will take some time to get used to the humidity but it's nice have 65-75 degree temp in January.
2. I absolutely abhor toll roads or the idea of them. I guess it's better than state taxes.
3. There are alot of Puerto Ricans here. Many that look like me even. (Afro Latinos...Hebrews btw)
4. People seem alot more nice and less shady than people in Vegas. Quite refreshing.
5. Lot of great food here.
6. It will take some time getting used to Eastern Standard Time coming from Pacific. Not just sleep wise but everything else.

7. The drive from Vegas wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be but I won't do it again. It was nice to see different parts of America and I was treated well in each state. Didn't stop in Alabama though...

8. Much different demographics vs. Vegas. It's about 30% Latino (Puerto Rican, Dominican and Cuban white and black), 30% Hebrew (So called African Americans, Haitian, Jamaicans) 5% Asian and 35% Caucasian. Refreshing vs. 9% Hebrew, 25% Latino and 65% Caucasian, 1% everyone else.

I'm happy with the move and this new chapter in my life. :) While Vegas will always be home, I'm done with it.

That's where I am . Cool, Man

I know exactly where you talking about on colonial and Westmorland. The black guy standing outside the 7 11 right there on the corner is the local crack dealer.  if you go up a couple blocks to Orange blossom Trail and take a left, starting at 5pm every day there will be hookers on OBT all the way to the Florida mall. If you plan on picking one of them up make sure you pick up one south of I4, the "girls" north of I4 are trannys. They call it the Tranny trail. They look just like women bro. Don't make the mistake I did and pick one up. Once we got back to 'her' shitty apartment off of OBT and "she" said 'are you sure you know what your doing'? at that point I noticed the atoms apple and big hands, deep voice. At this point I had already given "her" my money. I actually contemplated getting a BJ from her but I just couldn't do it.  Luckily she did give me back half of the money I gave her. It was def. a weird feeling/experience.

I'm not too sure of any gyms over in Avalon, I'm currently training at a planet fitness in the winter park area.

Damnit, Man, that OBT is a trap. I have to go there 2 times a week,  a guy pulled a gun on me, cause I was on the "Wrong" gas station, at 10 AM. The girls are terrible on OBT, crack/dope heads, disguting indeed

I'm looking to relocate later this year. Orlando, Winter Park area has been recommended. I like California but the housing is nuts. I heard humidity is a big issue in Florida and if you are complaining about it in January, can you imagine July?

I thought you were a retired cop with a lake house? Why are you complaining about housing?

I am a retired cop living in a lake house. I moved here specifically to be close to my Dad. He passed away a few months ago. Arkansas is nice but it's not my cup of tea. While we may go back to Central Texas, we are considering trying something different. We like mild/warm weather, ocean and outdoor activities. No kids at home and we like to explore new places. Florida and California keep coming up. The cons of Florida I'm told are humidity, bugs and hurricanes. California is high cost of housing, fires, mudslides and earthquakes. Something to think about

That's cool.  Diversity is our greatest strength, after all.

It might suck serious cock, and basically make EVERYTHING worse, but it is our greatest strength!

Sounds charming.  I just made the move from LA to FL after 16 years there. Best thing I ever did!

Now I just need to meet my African brother Wiggs for coffee and a flat earth discussion.

Wiggs,

Im here now just on vacation. (I live in NH).
Weather is fantastic. Im not seeing the racial hate here, Im a skinhead looking bastard sort of, (Inked up, short hair, etc).
Homey hebrews like yourself fist bumping me all week.

Seems pretty normal here as far as that goes. I guess it is a high crime city, whatever...

Good luck on your next life chapter in FLA...

California isn't LEO friendly at all.  Most of my friends say they that when they retire they are moving from this state.  It's a mockery of all that good law enforcement stands for.    I've been to Arkansas and it's pretty damn nice or at least the areas I checked out.  Florida is too.  If you want water front property, just start digging a hole and pretty soon you've got a pond in your backyard!  You have to keep an eye out for gators but having aquatic iguanas around is pretty cool.  I've heard the Carolinas can be nice.  Texas is nice too but I prefer Arizona.  Arizona and Florida come to mind most and the former is much more LEO friendly in my estimation.  I've been there and talked with troopers and they like it fine.

I hope Wiggs enjoys Florida and puts down some real roots and gets his life together with a good woman and an even better job. A good dose of reality will help him get and stay well grounded.  I had hoped he would pursue nursing but that's up to him. He's not dumb, just a bit misguided in my estimation but at various times in our lives, who isn't?
