Medicine, engineering, law... they are all factory jobs.
So you make 200-600k a year instead of 60k... what can you do with that? You still have to work, don't you? And to the bone... just like the common laborers. Your children become worthless. They squander your wealth. In two or three generations any pitiful distance you put between yourself and the absolute mean is squashed, if not reversed.
Most jobs, even well-respected ones, are utterly vain, existing only to offer some poor fool the opportunity to degrade himself to utter wretchedness, so that he might shave a quarter percentage point off a meaningless fringe metric which subsumes into an index value seven layers above. Any possible audit of causality would lose sight of this idiots contribution long before that.
Did I say "most jobs"? In a generation or two you can change that to "nearly all". Lucky, education appears to at least be somewhat effective, given how little it takes these days for the citizens of "privileged" nations to lose their will and end the farce. It's a smart move -- soon enough we won't even be good enough to imitate slavery.
