As I mentioned many times years ago ..... I was a close frined of Keith's and gave a short eulogy at his funeral and had the opportunity to speak to most of his high school friends immediately afterwards.
I was also present the day Keith passed away and here is the short version of what went on that day .....
But first .... Here are the facts aboout how I believed he passed away.
The brown recluse spider-bite was the cause of most of the problems that Keith endured during the five years or so prior to his death.
That spider bite problem was examined by a few doctors but no one ever came up with a cure and over the next few years his lower leg gradually swoled up to something somewhat larger than a football which prevented him from doing his normal pre-bite activities.
So his bodywt increased immensely and I personaly believe that was the direct cause of his death.
I found his increased bodywt to be interesting due to the fact that he never ate as much as I did at one sitting and I'm 6' and 198 lbs.
And although he loved cookies and Key Lime pies .... he never consumed enough of those 'treats' to make his bodywt climb as high as it managed to do so.
I'm not medically qualified but I believe that the spider bite was the main cause of his increased bodywt.
Keith loved to hit the casinos and play Craps and the Dean Martin slot machine, so I asked him if he wanted to go with me for a few hours to the Orleans, but he declined ... whcih was strnge because he always said, "OK! Let's go!"
I figured that something was wrong but didn't press the issue.
So aobut 1500 hrs that same afternoon, I called to see if he wanted me to bring him some food for dinner but there was no answer on the phone, so I simply cashed-in and headed to the house .... and found a number of strnge vehicles and a cop car blocking the drive-way.
And once inside the house I noticed a number of strangers and two police officers with all their eyle-balls pointed/gazing in my direction.
The first thing I wanted to say was, "I didn't dood it!" ...... even though I had absolutely no idea what was 'dooded'.
