Hey anyone try keto as a natty for extended periods of time? I feel like I hold on to more muscle but losing weight becomes hard as hell as weight stalls. Anyone have any tips? What are your experiences?
The problem when people go on Keto diet is that technically you can "eat as much protein and fat as you want" and not get fat, assuming youre on zero carbs and have reached keto status. Thats true, and that was the selling point for Atkins diet (now called Keto).
Alot of people abuse that. Im a pretty big guy myself, and lean enough to always get a second look, but i was what they would consider a "linebackers body". For 5-6 years i was hovering around 237 lbs give or take a pound of two. My diet was pretty simple, for 12 hours on sundays i eat whatever the fuck i want, and i mean literally balls to the walls. The other 6.5 days of the week, i would have zero carbs, my only incidental carbs were anything that was in broccoli, asparagus, or Brussels Sprouts . My protein shake for those who care is BSN Syntha6 Isolate which has i think 1g of sugar. On this diet, i would eat as much protein as i wanted, like for dinner i would have at least a 1lb ribeye steak (16oz) + 8-12 oz of veggies, plus leftover from my girlfriends meal. So for example my dinner alone wouldve been 24-36 oz, but on sundays when i weighed in, i was on the dot 237.
about 4 months ago i decided i wanted to do a blast diet, i would still be on keto, but i would weigh my food. i would have 4-5 meals, each 6 oz (4oz protein 2 oz veggie). At first it was hard going from huge portion to such small portion, but the hardest part is the first 15-20 minutes after eating until your brain signals to your stomach that you ate and are full... The results? fucking astonishing... again this is getbig and everyone is huge and shreddeded, but i was a big lean guy at 237, and now i walk around 210. The level of cuts that got are amazing, and all i had to do was do some portion control.
I think carbs are overrated, just as everything is in bodybuilding. you dont need the huge amounts that the pros suggest (unless youre doing hgh/insulin), but for natty or relative low dose users, a form of keto could be something to give a try, it has definately worked for me and i dont see any reason that i would change my diet.
