As much as I dislike the current Arnold. I own most of his movies. I do not own one movie with Dwayne Johnson.
   Nah, Dwaynes alright, he just lacks too many things. His arms don't match his chest, his leg don't match his back. He's got one thing and that's a great smile.  Other than that he looks like a bigger darker version of Rob Snyder.

Johnson has appeared in over budgeted, low performing, forgettable films. He even played a white guy at one point. Adjusted for inflation, Arnold earned more.

Arnold started from scratch and conquered bodybuilding, cinema, and politics. Johnson was born into a wrestling family and had a huge head start. Johnson will NEVER make it in politics.

Conclusion: Arnold was and is The Man. Johnson hasn't surpassed shit.

Muscular action heros have always been in.  Also, the rock has been acting for a long time.  Its not as if he just recently burst onto the scene ushering in a new era of muscular movie stars.  They have been making the marvel comic movies for at least 10 years now and those all include muscular actors.  People have and aleays will like muscular actors, they just don't care for bodybuilders who are way over the top.

what arnold did, the way he went into hollywood, to become their highest payed star was unique and something that i think most people thought would never be duplicated.

the era of action movie stars was over, everybody was slimming down, some actors were considered too big...

in comes dwayne the rock johnson - taking the same kinda roles that arnold did - mixing action and comedy roles.

bigger than arnold, taller than arnold... and now the highest paid actor in hollywood with a net worth of $220m  at age 45 (arnold got $400m but he's also 25 years older)

The fact that Dwayne  is the celebrity with the biggest following over the age of 40 in the planet  ,hell I think he is top 10 overall  on Instagram twitter etc  its rather impressive ....

Ill add into the mix that The Rock came into movies having a huge fanbase from WWE and was already a household name. Arnold had nothing like that, nor was there anything like social media to promote.
I honestly cant say any of Dwayne Johnsons films are good, although he was a great wrestler/ entertainer, and is a very likeable guy.
