Most strikers have pretty deadened nerves in their shins by the time they get to the UFC or beletor.
When I was in high school I had a friend named Dom from Laos who grew up kick boxing since he was a little kid and we'd be in auto shop where they have these big metal poles about 8 inches in diameter that support the overhead structures in the carport areas where we would store the extra cars outside. This dude, I'll never forget the fucking sound of it, would just to show off I would assume, kick these metal poles with what looked to be almost full for us, maybe 60% or more and all you heard was this dinggg-ggggggg. All of us watching with her eyebrows up and jaws on the ground. He'd laugh and do it again.. Dinggg-gggg-gggggg. Seems like if any of us would try that Not only would it hurt like fuck, but it seemed we would break our tibia and fibia in half. Dude didn't even train at a dojo/school since coming to the u.s. and had only trained with his uncle in his backyard or garage, but had trained mostly in Laos since he was a child. came here as a refugee and had watched his parents (uncles brother) tied to a tree and beat to death in the jungle in Laos. Dude lived in East Side and was an OKB gangster and had a legit 295 bench (while I was still struggling with 225 lol), always asking for workout tips (all he did was chest/bench press). Csme to school one day showing us this new leather jacket he was proud of and a week later he was gone. Turned out he was at a party and shot 3 people (all gangsters from OBS) and stole the jacket. 2 died (shot 2 of the guys in the head, one died, obviously. The other lost an eye. One who was shot in then head and died was an OG and the uncle of the one who lived) Dunno how the other died. He'd already had the jacket when he shoot'em too lol. Could 've just bounced, but he would've likely been shot himself soon after. Shitty deal.
