Flu season is upon us...
« on: February 08, 2018, 04:50:44 AM »
... and, what is up with all these dirty-ass motherfuckers coming to work infected with the flu and sneezing their brains out? Best of all, there’s nothing you and I can do to prevent someone else from coming to work sick. Is it any wonder these infectious diseases keep coming back every winter and become more virulent/resistant every season? Is it any wonder viruses like influenza spread like wildfire every winter, easily reaching pandemic proportions without blinking an eye?

What irks me to no end aren’t the dirty assholes that needlessly show up at work sick. Every. Fucking. Year. What really makes my blood boil is to know that the governments (local, state, federal and divine) do not offer any protections for the public at large. THIS reiterates my belief that governments are effectively useless. Waste of resources. They offer the simple man no alternatives to forcibly taking part in a pandemic exercise. Real people problem? No solution. Now, if a comma is out of place in the 143a to RegS form, ohooooo! We have 15 laws for that!

A lot of lower wage workers do not get many sick days.  They come to work sick because they want to get paid.  Also, most of the morons working these shit jobs are inconsiderate and apathetic.  They don't care if they are making other people sick.  Misery loves company.

Simple things I do to prevent from getting sick are:

 - Avoid eating out at restaurants and crowded public places during flu season.
 - Wash hands regularly.
 - Do not rub your eyes or even touch your face until after you wash your hands.
 - Use alcohol wipes after touching anything in public places, especially gas pumps, gym equipment and door handles.

Lastly, stop depending on government to solve your problems.  Government is corrupt and incompetent.

I had unlimited paid sick time on my job. Meaning if you are sick for 30 days you get your full pay for 30 days. I went for a about a decade using about 5 sick days.

I started getting sick in retirement. Instead of training in my home gym I went to a commercial gym where maybe 150 people touched every handle I touched. I also have a retirement job with some dregs of society like the majority of the getbiggers.  ;D  I am always washing my hands. Opening doors with my elbow or grabbing the handles with my coat sleeve. I wash my hands like a surgeon many times a day. I get a flu shot every year. Thinking about getting the pneumonia shot too.  So far this year I haven't caught a cold. I know I just jinxed myself.

One of the best things you can do is wash your hands a lot and keep hand sanitizer handy.  I've read that a lot of people get the virus by touching a dirty surface like a door handle, gas pump or debit card machine and then touch their face or bite their nails without thinking about it.  Also, the flu shot this year hasn't been shown to be very effective.

If you become to anal and are obsessed with cleaning all the time your body is likely to become less tolerant and you are more likely to be ill.

The reason people these days are always ill is because none of them ate dog shit as kids....

Regarding the flu shot the scientists try to take an educated guess on what strains will be around that year. Then they load the shot with one to three deactivated strains. Many times they are off like this year. They say it's around 10 to 30% effective. I get a shot every year. Hopefully the shots will be cumulative in prevention. The virus like you said in on surfaces but recently I read it is airborne too. Not just from a sneeze but if a person with the flu is near you on their breath.

I have never had a flu shot, I have had flu twice in my life...(flu is being unable to get out of bed or stand up properly..not a blocked nose)

I have only had the flu once, caught it from my Asian girlfriend. She weighed 118.2 lbs. I didn't feel like being sick for a whole week so I strolled over to my home chemistry kit and whipped up a legit flu antidote. The Mayo Clinic wanted to buy it from me as it would have saved thousands of lives but I was like "no thanks, don't need the money or publicity." This was just before I got my 3rd DUI of the year. Didn't really bother me though because the cops that arrested me were my clients and we stopped at an Italian restaurant for shrimp scampi before taking me to county lockup, win!

Fellas, the main issue is not how the flu gets passed on from host to host. Main issue right now is that we're reaching pandemic proportions every year now. Virus-wise, we're at a crossroads in terms of it spiraling out of control (mutating too fast for us to develop a workable vaccine, a battle we're about to lose soon) or it will develop so quickly that even when vaccines work (albeit marginally,) the flu season will get longer and we will reach pandemic proportions right after summer.

Either way, everyone WILL have to deal with it. I, for one, cannot understand how smoking is prohibited in enclosed spaces but sneezing a potentially fatal illness isn't.

Either way, we're f*cked.

I'll bet that tight little Asian pussy was worth putting up with the flu for 2 weeks.

Vaccines are toxic and worse for you than the actual flu itself.

Getting the flu either makes you stronger or it kills you.  The strong live, the weak die.  That's nature.

Very true.

Issue is: how do you call something that is 15% effective a "vaccine"? How do pharmaceutical companies get away with this shit?

Had a front desk girl and a spin instructor girl at the gym who'd both come to work sick. Seemed like every couple months either one would be sick. Esp the front desk girl.

She came to work because she couldn't afford not to, and I couldn't always fix the books to give her paid time off. Fat Mexican girl with 3 kids. 1 with a heart problem. No dad around and fam of course was poor AF. Few yrs back laws changed to allow something like 3 sick days a year, but still. Lotta people can't afford it. Not that she'd be complaining about being sick, but it was obvious... And none of us got paid sick days. Especially trainers. One would get sick from a client, then their clients would get sick. You're not just contagious when you feel the worst, so they'd end up infecting nearly all their clientele. Same goes for people just going to the gym in general when they're sick, and spreading their shit everywhere.

And Speaking of people being dirty, as someone being in the gym. For many, many hours a week, I also have unfortunately more opportunities than most to catch people not washing their hands in the restroom. you'd be fucking amazed at home Mini people don't wash and after using the restroom it's freaking disgusting. Dudes just walk in piss or shit or whatever and walk straight out don't even think about even just rinsing their fucking hands
