New Tax Code
« on: February 14, 2018, 11:05:10 PM »
I get paid bi-weekly.  This week I had $30 more in taxable wages than two weeks ago.  Yet I paid $50 more in federal taxes.  That doesn't add up.  Could the govt shutdown have had anything to do with this?  I had literally 3/4 of one hour more pay on this check than last and ended up bringing home $26 less.  Certainly 3/4 hour of OT couldn't have skyrocketed me into another tax bracket. Can anyone shed some light on the situation?

Call your payroll clerk or HR

Waiting to hear back from them.  Although they are essentially useless.

Turns out on the check two weeks ago, they owed me from the previous check.  They didn't have the new tax code in place in accounting.

Take home pay isn’t usually associated with retirement. I’m becoming suspect of your personal story. How did you take your retirement payment(s)?

Besides, most cops are usually right or right of center especially since obama and the obama administration shit on law enforcement. You’re borderline extreme left. All the cops I know (I know quite a few) support Trump because he backs the military and law enforcement

Hmmm. Take home pay isn't usually associated with retirement payments... how do you figure that works? I paid 28K in taxes on my retirement pay... did you think it was non taxable?

I wasn't a fan of Obama shitting on L.E. I'm not a fan of lying. Hope you can see where Trump might run afoul of the second part.

So you took the lump sum on your retirement day. Are you still getting taxed? Based on your “take home” pay?

I think you are mistaken. I can prove I am a retired police officer.. what are you willing to wager?

I have an annuity. I get a monthly pension based on the annuity. It is taxable. I just did my taxes today. I didn't take a lump sum on my retirement day, I took a payment that will go until the day I die.

You are on thin ice, just letting you know. I don't have any other account than this one. I am who I represent myself to be. I think people with multiple accounts should probably seek help.

Common people, taxes are withheld differently from payroll vs retirement. There is a thing called withholding tables that are used in payroll.

Not sure what you are saying here... a guy making 175k working and a guy making 175K retirement are taxed differently?

The amounts that are withheld are determined differently.

The amounts that are withheld are determined differently.

The bottom line is, your gross income is taxed at the same rate.
