I'm pretty sure the solution to all this school shooting craziness is to punish the millions of people that have nothing to do with it.

At no point should we consider having armed security to protect our children at school.  Armed guards are for protecting important things like money, corporations, celebrities, and politicians.

You don't even have to arm the teachers.

Put 2-3 cops in every school (at least in public schools). And make that their permanent assignment.

Besides hiring additional cops to fulfill this role, why hasn't this been done yet? Lack of funds?  ??? ??? ???

in the wake of a Florida school shooting that left at least 17 dead, right-wing media figures immediately blamed “gun-free zones” and argued that future shootings would be prevented if there were armed guards at schools, ignoring that the school did have “an armed police officer” on campus “in addition to security.”

More police might work, the problem is the size of some of these school complexes. You'd probably need at least a pair on every exit. As much as I hate the thought of it from a moral stand point, I do think a combo of armed teachers, plus more security is the closest thing to a right answer. Make arming the teachers a discreet, voluntary effort. Let them go through the same portion of firearms training regular police do every few years, etc.....

Also enough with this "School to Prison Pipeline" idea that they're trying to push the last few years. While zero tolerance is a bad thing, when you've got a kid that was so scary that they wouldn't allow him on campus with a backpack and without a security check, perhaps they should've talked to the cops.

There should be multiple armed officers at every exit/entrance.

One armed officer won't mean much in a school with 3000-4000 kids and multiple exits/entrances. Yet, one politician walks around with multiple bodyguards. Hence, your statement that there was an armed officer is moot.

Lol at additional security. They likely are not armed.
