I work with older folks and their money

live below your means
have solid income coming in by the time you retire (pension, 401k, rental income, SSI, investments)
stay active as hell - most retired people dont do this
being healthy is more important ever before when older
you can die of a broken heart so be active and close to family
make sure you accomplish shit when you are younger because you reminisce it over and over
have hobbies

common sense shit - but ive seen it many times -from a referee standpoint/observed it hard

Solid advices! And I do mean that.  I would not live in Kommiefornia as a retiree.  I fucking hate this state and can't wait to be able to retire one day and leave this shithole.  Unless SoCal (i.e., Orange County and San Diego) tell Suckramenoff to fuckoff and split away from LA on up into their own state, there's no reason to live here.  LA is a shithole too.  The state hates money earners and is governed by analampreys just waiting buttsuck the fuck out of you for every dime you've got.

Arizonans don't want fucktard liberals moving there, trust me. Liberalism is a societal leech.

I spent some time in Newport Beach and Laguna Beach. Nothing to not like about it except the high cost of housing. I think if I had an extra 3 or 4 grand a month I would probably move there. However our plan is to do a lot of traveling and just the cost of living there would eat up a lot of the travel money. Liberals don't bother me, and having grown up in Oklahoma and lived in Texas for a few decades, conservatives don't bother me. There are good people in both groups

Tampa is not bad, I would pick St. Pete, or Sarasota. The weather is good but yeah the summers get hot. St. Pete has decent food and has a good scene. Tampa is nice to visit. I would recommend Florida to anyone living on fixed income. If unlimited $ I would go to California, but honestly Florida ain't far behind it overall (food wise it is though). Women wise I think Florida is pretty close.

We'll head out there in July to scout for a week.  We were about to go next week but couldn't fit it in with other travel plans. I hear good things about St. Pete and Sarasota so we will definitely check them both out.

I lived in Tampa from 2014-2015 and the big Publix w/ pharmacy in town took up to 2 days to fill my RX. WHen I drove there to pick it up I felt like I was at a retirement home. Hordes of geriatrics with their walkers hobbling around.

Libs don't bother me until they tax me or try to make me snort their line(s) of BS on "fairness" or whatever they're pushing at the moment.  Their raison de' tre is as fluid as San Fran perverts gender.  It changes with a whim.

Conservatives are pretty much set in our ways but again, libs don't "believe" in anything solid, if you will.  For example, men are men and women are women and you can't change your sex anymore than a leopard can change its spots or a tiger their stripes.    I have friends that are liberal in many ways, the main exception being they despise pedophiles, rapists and the like and don't want to be taxed.  You being taxed they don't mind at all because it's "fair".  I don't hold back on them and they don't hold back on me.  But we agree to to disagree in an agreeable manner.

Kommiefornia is governed by the extra chromosome set.  'Tards.  By the way, 8 grand a month is plenty if you govern yourself wisely in its use.   All the best and I hope you find what you want and need.

I like the beaches and waters of Playa Del Carmen Mexico but I'm not happy with having no real police protection and having to watch people put gas in your car so they don't rip you off. I am attracted to the constant temperatures of southern California but state taxes and high cost of rent is a put off. Florida has high humidity and unless you get down south, cold winters. Where would you live if you liked turquoise waters and reasonable living if you had to live on 8k a month?

You have 8K in retirement money a month?  You can live large with that money.

I'm in Hot Springs AR now and it feels very similar. Some of the worse drivers I have seen and they are all blue hairs with big dark glasses

High cost of housing, food, insurance, gas, clothes, entertainment, etc, etc.

Been seriously considering a move out of this state myself.

My entire life, SoCal.

I was born there but moved from San Diego as a child. Haven't been back much since. In the last 3 years we had some good friends move to Lido Island in Newport Beach and we've been out to visit a few times and I have to say I was very impressed. Coming from Texas where you can see your life flash before your eyes just walking from the house to the car in 105 Deg temp, it was refreshing to be able to enjoy the outdoors in July. Something about the vibe there and Laguna Beach had a 70's feel to it. But yeah.. gas prices, and the housing is eye opening.

The crowds during warm months are insane, holidays are fucked near the beach. The democrats have jacked our taxes so high on everything, it's insane. I just spent $681 to register my truck.

Preach it, brother...Kommiefornia's government is asinine.  They raised vehicle registrations ostensibly to fix our roads but then that same government decided that pot holes were  not harmful and should be legalized in this state.

Paid more than double that for my bike. Brown has driven taxes through the roof.

Those little hidden gems are a concern. I think at this time Southern Calif is a little to rich for my blood. I will try the Tampa area for a year or two and see how that works. We can vacation to Napa and Southern Cal in the mean time.
