I am not religious.  Although because of that, I wonder if I will face eternal damnation when I die.

With that said, I have no problems with religion or religious people.  If it improves their quality of life, and they aren't hurting anyone - what's the problem?  As I understand it, people tend to recover/heal faster when sick - even those facing serious illness - when they know that others are praying for them.

On the flip side, when I was in my third year of university, one of my psychology professors said that atheists are under-represented on death row.  So I suppose viewed overall, there is both good and bad.

Every Western society has separation of church and state - and the strongly religious ones such as Poland.  So I have no problem with that.

If  you only behave due to fear of punishment, how does this make you better? If god is God, then he will know the heart and judge accordingly. 

This is like the joke about the man that dies and goes to Hell.  He is given a tour of the grounds so he can choose where he wants to  spend eternity.  He visits a bunch of rooms all featuring torture, fire, Oprah Winfrey re-runs and worse.   Finally he comes to a room that has bunch of guys standing in deep shit while drinking coffee.

He thinks it over and immediately looks as his demon escort and says loudly, "This is it!  How bad can it be to drink coffee and talk shop?  I choose this room!"  His demonic escorts says, "Ok then" and has him sign the form. 

Suddenly a whistle blows and a huge slobbering demon waddles in and announces, "Alright boys, coffee break's over!  Back on your heads!"

In other words, no one knows exactly what awaits us.   Try living the faith of the Christ instead of typing it like rote.  And if  you choose to go there, I will be no less harsh on you than I am with any atheists here or in the real world.

Good luck. I mean that. Everyone should decide for themselves based on the info. For me, I'm 100% certain the bible god is man made. There may be a higher entity out there, I doubt it thinks of itself as god though
