The 800 for 5 is pretty insane as well (no wraps or Mummy Suits)...

Really deep squats for power lifting. Wish cheat suits and shirts were never invented. It detracts from the sport.

I wouldn't be able to get it out of the racks. If I did my bones would disintegrate.

That wasn't even his final lift was it?

I think I recall him discussing it with Mark Rippetoe and he went for the double just for the hell of it.

As everybody knows, Ronnie performed 2 easy reps of 800 without a pause at the top. He said his biggest regret is that he didn't do more reps. I believe this is the first time he ever attempted to lift a weight of this magnitude. I wonder what he could do if he trained like a competitive powerlifter for a year around the time he did the 800x2. He did powerlifting comps at a lighter body weight earlier in his career though, but obviously got much stronger in the years after.

I feel that this is just as impressive as Karwoski 800x5 as he trained at these heavy weights day in and day out. The 1000 x 2 is crazy though.

Not NEAR as impressive.

Ronnie wore a suit and wraps, giving him anywhere from 100 to 200 additional pounds ... and his reps were considerably more shallow.

As well, Coleman routinely squatted in the five-to-six-plus range, putting his training poundages within the (usual) orbit of an elite squatter like Kirk.

The “no pause at the top” nonsense isn’t worth delving into, as anyone who’s performed thousands of squat sessions and devoted years to very heavy lifting knows. And more than likely, given the kinetic energy stored in Ronnie’s suit within the mid-stroke of that double, the not full completion helped him achieve the second.

All this is obvious to a seasoned and knowledgeable squatter.

You are clearly not.
