Levrone, Fox, Ferrigno, Platz and Leidelmeyer are my 5 top favorites and not in any specific order.

Pete Grymkowski was the first mass monster. He was 5'10" and competed at 250lbs to 260lbs in the early 70's. No GH and no insulin.

Early '90s comeback, but he never managed to get on stage at his best during that time. Tarzan hair timeframe.

Bolasterone of peace.

5'8" and 260 pounds in the offseason. Would come in at 235 pounds onstage up until 1982 but was criticized for being TOO muscular by the judges, so to appease them he went down to 210-215 pounds and while cut, he lost a lot of that MASS. The guy had legit 22" upper arms. Imo, he's the true first mass monster with an insane most muscular pose.

I had the pleasure of training with Bertil in the early 80's in World Gym Santa Monica. Bertil trained with very heavy weights and a fast and loose training style.. He was a very cool and interesting individual. Its a shame how his life ended up..

Was it before 1983? He was much blockier and massive up until 1982. Post 1983 he was still large, but more shredded.

Yes that's a rare shot, I think it only became known when he posted it on his IG recently.

Any idea what he weighed there? Had to have been at least 250 pounds.

The whole murder thing with Bertil just shows what a nut case he is, can’t overlook that no matter how good his physique was, guy was and is a piece of shit, same with craiggers

Nope. That pic is from 1984. They just used it for the cover of that magazine. He weighed 235 pounds there. I have the muscle and fitness magazine article. More from that 1984 photo session:

More from that same 1984 article where they say he weighed 235 with 20" arms at a height of 5'11".

Cool thanks.

Here is the last show he did, '94 nationals and placed 14th. He was way off and the competition was insane during that time - didn't help.

This is Rory at his absolute thinnest. It's from 1981. He weighed 192 pounds here. He apparently fasted for months to get down to that bodyweight.

He shouldn't have done LHW that year, got some bad advice. Great condition but not suited for his height.
