That's only because leftists have hijacked universities by running anyone even remotely right of Stalin off campus.  The result is an echo-chamber, where none of the losers in the social sciences and humanities have any clue that the rest of the actual thinking/real world regards their ideas as completely unworkable jokes.  Their moronic policies work somewhat on campus, solely because they are dealing with a group of powerless students whose educations are held hostage.  That is quite different from a situation where people have access to money and legal representation and who don't tolerate Stalinist-style show trials where people "Guilty if Accused", as is the case for the jokes known as university judicial panels.

Limitation of government
Respect for tradition
Fiscal responsibility
Strong military

Left
Fairness in economic matters
Welcoming posture to the world
Respect and concern for human rights
Concern for the working person, more than for the wealthy

Limitation of government (except for regulating select marriages, women's bodies, restrooms, online privacy, and enforcing narrow view points on the rest of the country)
Respect for tradition (especially the fourth marriage, third child out of wedlock, drug use, poverty, and adultery scandals that plague the right.)
Fiscal responsibility (yeah because stealing from SS is the answer to paying off that extra trillion that got added.)
Strong military (the same people voting to spend more money on the military are usually the exact same ones crying about their right to have a well regulated militia to throw over the exact same military that they voted more money towards increasing the might and killing power.  Good job morons.)

I've said for years that the Democrat party is intellectually bankrupt.  Only reason they are still relevant is the GOP sucks.  Bunch of spineless, dishonest cowards.  Running as fiscal conservatives then spending like drunken sailors.  Running promising to repeal Obamacare then failing to do so when they have control of DC. 

I actually think Trump, so far, has been a blessing in disguise for the GOP.  No way we would have accomplished so much if he wasn't POTUS.
