Cobra Kai Review
« on: May 02, 2018, 11:21:11 PM »
Basically its a Getbigger turning a bunch of obviously left wing liberals and SJW's into some real men (including women).   There's nothing more funny than watching Johnny throw beer bottles at kids and making pretty racist and xenophobic comments at them.   All the episodes are available...first 2 are free and the rest play 2 minute previews.

Quite possibly the most surprising series ever.   This shit could never be played on TV.

Good reviews on imdb, looks more serious and realistic than the films, i love when they revisit old franchises and get it right,  which isn't very often
Look forward to judging for myself

Saw some of it last night. Looks like a tired rehash overall.

I watched the complete 10 episode series yesterday. It was pretty Badass. If you love the movie, you will love this. And it looks like there will be another season. You can sign up for a FREE month trial of You Tube Red so you can watch it and then cancel before the month is up. No harm, no foul. Enjoy.

Karate is now something "little dragons" or very young kids do, having turned into more or less a gymnastic/babysitting service.  I wonder if the movie will cause new interest in karate, or if jiu jitsu, muay thai and mma will remain the "tougher" arts

Why would you cancel you cheap fuck? You liked their program, watched it, now just pay up for the service. Don't be an asshole.

I don't have regular tv, is YouTube red just a streaming servic like Netflix?

What it does is kinda hit the nostalgia button, like trans ams with screaming chickens on the hood.

sometimes... I think - fuck goals, ambitions, passions, intelligence or reality... instead, I'll waste this extraordinary existence sitting on my tard ass killing my own soul by watching tv.. we could all use a little more insidious bullshit propaganda in our lives, anyway

the best part imo is that people actually pay to do this, lol

I can’t recall bing watching any show.. Game of Thrones comes close, but I watched most of them in one day... very good series, telling things from Johnny’s perspective. I can’t believe I’m rooting for team Cobra Kai!!

Hope it gets picked up for another season.

You're the author of this video?  This is probably a bit of a spoiler, but fuck it.  At the end of the 10th episode, they're at Miyagi's old house (the green one behind the old train tracks that Daniel-San did work on for his training).  Has that house remained there since the filming of the movies, or was it demolished afterward, and the production rebuilt it for this series (assuming it's publicly accessible and not on a studio lot)?  It'd be interesting to hear from a local.

Normally I don't watch modern day movies and TV series given most of them are crap (especially re-boots of old series and movies), but I'm a fan of the movie franchise, so the nostalgia hooked me in.  While I was skeptical, I have to say this is actually pretty good overall.  While there is a bit of PC/SJW/Diversity shit in there, the Johnny character counteracts a lot of it with how anti-pc he is in this, and I think it's pretty refreshing to see that in this day and age (especially from a straight white man, no less); I legitimately laughed out loud at some of the lines he had in this.  I also like how this series has him as the central character and focuses more on his story and why he's the way he is, and you get to empathise with him as opposed to just seeing him as "the bad guy" like you did in the movies.  While you could see where the plot was going as you were watching it, there is a bit of depth to most of the characters and the relationships to one another, and I think the writing deserves some credit for that.  The last 5 minutes of the last episode has set up possibly another season.  Time will tell.

Watched 1st 2 free...quite good...original idea to make Daniel the rich douche used car salesman and Johnny a likeable, down and out has been....Well written other than some lazy, presictable writing such as the obligatory shot of Johnny passed with close up of empty beer can on flloor(We get it...alcoholic loser)

And then of course hacking away at the easy technology jokes...Johnny not understanding students cell phones, social media,etc...similar to Creed where Kid says hes putting training in the cloud..Rocky looks up at sky...some mundane, easy jokes like that...again..we get it..those were the 80's..funny how different things are....

But overall much better than I thought.....really looking forward to rest but hate signing up for shit...wish you could just buy the damn show without Youtube Red...Even free trial..often some bullshit attached....Having flashbacks of being a kid and signing up for one of those cd clubs for a penny and a year later they wont atop sending fucking cds to my house and I cant cancel..

But I digress

Good show...Looking forward to more.

Ordered whole thing..this is REALLY well written. Thoght it was some gimmick like Grudge Match and Daniel doing the crane kick...without spoilers this shit is profound.

This ia about fatherhood, family, masculinity and values in this fast, technological world

Masculinity has completely diaappeared...Over the loud speaker at school they give mantras about tolerance and NEVER hurting anyones feeling despite sexuality or gender. They encourage the students that for their Halloween Costumes..they include new roles..they say "Kids..instead of going as a male doctor...try going as a gender neutral hospital woker!"  Meanwhile the bullying at the school is out of control.

Most kidz have absentee fathers...as men they see nothing they can contribute to this passive type of development...Women and homosexuals will teach feeling and sensitivity better than those old straight men teaching them politically incorrect things like standing up to bullies. The emmasculated boys at lunch when thinking of what superpowers they would want against a bully..they decide invisibility and super speed so they can hide or run away from conflict. One boy says super strength and is ridicules because he'd have to fight with that superpower.

Johnny is a dinosaur in this world..an old version of masculinity...abandoned his son too..but now brings an attitude and aggressive masculinity to this emmasculated teen world Roles reversed from original..its a real examination into what kind of future men AND women do we want to raise and what does masculinity mean in this new world? Alao a ton of really funny, witty insights into technology

Parenting and monitoring when yourkid knows 1000 times more than you about digital technology

Bullying...cyber bullying....timely..poig nant..Much much more than nostalgia/ cheap remake.

i love the karate kid

i watched the first episode, not sure if i'll go back it's just too unrealistic and i'm sick of reboots

the dominant alpha kid in high school with rich parents does not become a loser as an adult

the kid that doesn't fit in with anybody other than a lonely old man does not become the hot shot rich business man as an adult

just watched episode 2, i think it's entertaining but now i see daniel's pretty white girl daughter is dating an asian kid and the asian kid is a bully?

that's even more unrealistic than the adults daniel and johnny grew up to be, but like i said it's interesting so i'll do the youtube red free trial to watch the rest
