I am this close to starting HRT. I have contacted a supplier with a decent (if overpriced) supply system. I am about to request a test, and I think it will be low/normal. It will probably be low enough to qualify for this testosterone mill. But who wants to pin themselves every week for the rest of their late adult years? I know it will be a big mental health boost, but at what cost? Plus the whole hemocrit dilemma.

I was higher at one point but I've been on pellets for about 3 years now and I felt no better at 1150 than I do at 800 so anywhere above 800 and below 1000 is my sweet spot. I go in every 3.5 months, takes about 15 minutes and I don't pay a dime. I cant ask for more than that

just as an aside, my last visit, the Doc said there was this new insurance requirement where everyone has to start over with 5 pellets, I was doing 11.... and then we have to redo all the blood test etc and I can certainly tell the difference between 11 and 5 pellets in my attitude, so I go to get bloodwork tomorrow, I'm curious as to what my Test is at with this reduced dose. I've already spoken to my doctor and told him I don't care what the numbers say, I can tell this isn't working for me so hopefully we can get it back up to around 10 pellets

Don’t be a pussy!
Donate blood, at an HRT dose it probably won’t even be necessary.

Doing a shot once a week is not that much of a hassle is it?

350 seems stil rather low. Ever try higher? It would feel better then 150 but still seems low for TRT. The dose in and of itself may not be but when taking it once a week seems like it would fluctuate.

Believe Crisler/Gordon do somewhere around 30mg twice a week on some patients based on blood tests to avoid use of ai.

I'm on 100mg week and my levels are between 350-400. Sometimes I'd like to be higher as this dose really doesn't do much. Been on for 3 years and am not quite 40 yet. So yeah, I plan (hope) to be doing this at least another 40 years  ;D

I've contemplated it at age 52 (almost 53) but I'm at 493 naturally (tested at the beginning of May) which is okay with me.  Once you go on TRT your nards quit producing test on their own.  Maybe 10 years down the road, we'll see.

If you're afraid of i.m. needles just go the subQ route. Absorption rates are similar and there is much less pain.

In my 4th year on. It's a life saver.

Forget your number and focus on how you feel. At 125/wk its awesome. No blood giving required for me either.

Guys are still injecting once a week? The updated protocol is a minimum of twice a week. Estrogen is under better control since the dosages are halved. You also get steady, even levels throughout the week instead of a quick peak. Subcutaneous injections is the way to go if you’re doing it for the long haul unless you want scar tissue building up over the decades.

When your prostate enlarges as it does in so many older men you won't be able to use HRT.  It's going to be some crash.

If and when that happens, I'll deal with it. For now, the benefits outweigh the potential, possible side effects.
