I lived in Thailand and you won't live live a king for $20k. 20k will give a life similar to the west.

LOL, trying to live there on 20k for 5 years by yourself means you have to live in a shitty room (or live away from the cities), and never go out or spend money and live off noodles. A sad life.

I've had homeless looking white people begging/scamming me for money, I guess they were told on the internet that Thailand was really cheap utopia and then they ran out of money.

This site seems pretty close to reality:

https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=United+States&city1=Los+Angeles%2C+CA&country2=Thailand&city2=Bangkok&amount=50000&displayCurrency=USD

i compared living in Los Angeles with 50k income to living in Bangkok.

You need 27k in Bangkok to have the same life as 50k in Los Angeles.

Also you can't just move to Thailand and live there, you need a visa.

To get a long term visa your pretty much need to marry a local to get a marriage visa, or be over 50 to get a retirement visa.
The rest of the visas are really annoying to maintain and most people leave after a year or two, many just stay there illegally. Many expats left for Cambodia and the Philippines after the Thai government cracked down on people abusing tourist visas a few years a go. Now last year the Cambodian government started cracking down on visa abuse.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys.

Again I said you can "live" for $3,000-$4,000 a year there, I didn't say like a king, again I dated a girl who's apartment was $75 a month, it wasn't huge, it was decent and it had a/c, you can find an apartment for less but it wont have A/C. If you are a big traveler / backpacking type, you can stay in hostels there for $5 a day, and if you are adventerous you can meet tons of like minded people there that are all about traveling and exploring Thailand. Food again it's on you, you can buy 60 eggs for like $2 and I know for a fact Terminal 21 has an awesome food court that has grilled chicken double portions with rice for 90 baht ($3). It depends on your habits, lifestyle, and things that you enjoy doing, Bangkok will definitely be more expensive then Phuket (at least for me it was) there I stayed almost 9 weeks and spent $1500, but I wasn't going to black tie events, I went to the gym in the morning, went to the beach all day, at the beach I would bring 1 scoop of whey with me, I would buy a coconut for 30 baht, put the whey with the coconut water drink that, eat the coconut meat, swim and relax all day, buy some mango, pineapple, banana have that for lunch, go back to my condo take a nap, go out for the night, buy some spicy basil chicken with a fried egg for 90 baht, hit a bar and drink a few Singha beers again are like 30-60 baht a beer. That was a typical day for me when I was in Phuket, my daily expenditures were between $5-10 a day. This is exactly how I want to live my life when I retire there.

Theres people that live there for as cheap as $3,000-$4000 a year, it might not be a super glamorous way of life but it can be done, I dated a girl there her apartment cost $75 a month, I know travelers that stay at hostels for $5 a day, food is also very cheap depending on your budget and how hungry you are, but you can get by eating with $3 a day. Not saying you'll be living it up, but it all depends on your taste and how you want to live your life.

Yeah, American white guys will fit right in.

You obviously never been to Thailand, you got random guys from all over the world living there, theres really no such thing as fitting in, maybe if you lived in a small village you would stand out, but the main areas theres tons of foreigners living there.

Locals have less costs than expats and they have extended family and friend networks which help them financially.
If you live there for long term you will find that there will be other costs. But there is only one way to find out.
Also telling everyone how cheap it is there will just increase demand causing higher rental prices in the future.
I mean for example even just moving your money from the US into Thailand will cause you to lose a few percent of your wealth in currency conversion and other fees. Then there's maintaining a visa cost. Cars? Scooters?
Then there's inflation, if prices go up every year 3% but you are on a fixed budget then it will get tighter every year. In 10 years prices of everything is 30% higher (it's actually a bit more due to compounding), now you can buy 30%+ less stuff. What happens if the USD loses value against the baht, then you have even less purchasing power.
Small things like that add up.

I think everyone understands that living in Thailand is a bit more complicated than Go4It describes.  Regardless, it's a beautiful country with a low cost of living compared to the US.  Do you disagree?

I don't disagree, definitely lower cost of living compared to the US and other first world countries.
A nice country if you don't mind that it is still a developing country. I'm from Sydney, to me Sydney looks clean, fresh, tidy, things work and are not broken. In a Thai city like Bangkok, it's smellier, dirtier and lot's of things look like they need fixing, but that's part of the charm.

I mean look at their street wiring, it's like they don't have any standards, just randomly add wires without consulting authorities.

Also the power sometimes just will be down randomly so hopefully you are prepared for stuff like that, but you can just go to a movie or something ;D

Apparently they rob a 7-Eleven convenience store at knife point. Redmond O'Neal was arrested for doing this on May 8, 2018. He has a huge substance abuse problem. Heroin and meth must be very expensive. Sad

His mother, Farrah Fawcett left him 4.5 mil when she passed. Her will stipulated that he could draw out the earnings to live on. The principal could be used only in the event of a medical crisis. Farrah left nothing to her estranged husband, Ryan O'Neal.

This is a photo of Redmond taking out the garbage at his father, Ryan O'Neal's Malibu house.

He really doesn't have any money, its really held by Fawcett's business manager and he could only get money for rehabilitation.   He can collect interest but only by strict stipulations on health which is why he prob robbed the store.

Honestly, it was great thinking on Fawcett's part before she died.  Hope he gets the help he needs

Thanks, Parker.  I'm certainly aware that that sort of stuff goes on, but I didn't get how "Zillotch" (what a name, oh brother) thought I was defending them.

I've reached the tentative conclusion that he's a troll and is full of shit.

I've been to Thailand and I have to admit theres like a stress free vibe there, most likely because pussy is so readily available, theres a certain happiness that comes with knowing you can get laid anytime you want.

Redmond needs to be kicked out on his own if he's going to have any chance of recovery.  It's tough for a parent to do but dad needs to quit enabling him and kick his ass out.

50K doesn't seem like enough money for anywhere in the U.S. especially not anywhere in L.A.
