4 cylinder truck, wtf!!  You can’t tow anything with that. It defeats the purpose of having a truck.  Is this what happens when a woman becomes ceo?
So ford comes out with a 6 cylinder f150...

-Chevy “hold my beer watch this”

Official tow ratings on the four cylinder have not been released yet.  However, this engine is producting better HP and Torque than many V8's were in the Nineties. The Ford 5.0 Windsor V8, used until 1996, produced 205 HP and 275 lb ft of torque at 2400 RPM.  With 348 lb-ft at 1500 RPM, the four cylinder Silverado engine produces significantly better torque and would be able to tow a much heavier trailer.

I expect the towing ability of this engine to be very similar to the 2.7 liter V6 in the F150.  They are both turbo charged engines of the same displacement.  I also believe Chevrolet could achieve the same power levels as the Ford V6 if they chose to.

In the current F150 3.5 Eco Boost is an absolute beast with 375 hp and 470 lb ft of torque.  It out tows the 6.2 liter V8 from Chevrolet and the 5.7 liter V8 from Dodge.  I

Sadly, coming from the UK I don't get to see these impressive beasts on the road.
1)  The Fall Guy's truck

I have a couple of friends with jacked up trucks like this.  One has an Diesel Excursion and the other has an Diesel F350.  They like to park them facing each other and compare who has the bigger truck.

All-New 2020 Chevy Silverado HD Packs 910 lb-ft Of Torque, Due In February
BY Sergiu Tudose

Come next year, you’ll be able to purchase a 2020 Silverado HD with a choice of two new powertrains. You can either go for the all-new gasoline engine with direct injection (which is mated to a six-speed transmission), or the Duramax turbo-diesel V8 unit, which feeds a monster 910 lb-ft (1,233 Nm) of torque to the wheels through a new Allison 10-speed gearbox.   8)

Sadly, coming from the UK I don't get to see these impressive beasts on the road... :(  Culturally speaking they've just never been a 'thing' - maybe due to the smaller roads or something.  But a lot of people growing up around the same time as me will clearly remember 3 famous trucks - aah the smell of nostalgia...

1)  The Fall Guy's truck

2)  The truck from Back to the Future

3)  But the most badass truck - the fantasy ownership one - was the beast from Lethal Weapon that pulled the clifftop house down

Look at that skinny front wheel  :o

Each one looks way better than these overdesigned new stompers.

I agree but trucks were meant to be workhorses. I understand that some people just use trucks to drive around town.  The beauty in having a truck (for me at least) is that if I need to tow something, haul lumber, help a friend move etc I have all those capabilities. With only four cylinders good luck hauling something.  Basically my take on it is why buy a truck, because they are rediculously expensive, if you don’t intend to use it as one.

What I don’t like is that in order to get a F150 with the diesel you have to order the platinum package.

Chevy Silverado is the most often stolen truck in USA.

Thieves know quality.
Or they're just easier to steal.

US manfacturers ask a very high extra price for diesels. I have no idea why, except that many buyers don't realise that they are being ripped off

In Europe a diesel normally is about 1,000 usd more expensive than a similar petrol or gas engine

The Ford 3 liter diesel is a land rover / range rover engine that has been for sale for many years (also in the USA in range rover models)
So development etc has been paid for
