The Death of Motion Picture Theaters & $10 Popcorn!
« on: June 13, 2018, 05:18:09 PM »
I just read that the AVENGERS Infinity Wars  just hit Thee-Billion US worldwide and I am wondering if any single individual involved within the production of that  Superhero flick became or will become  a billionaire solely as a result of that movie’s success.

Will the Russo brothers receive the majority of the profits or do some of the major stars such as Robert Downing Jr. have contracts that allow them to receive a minor or major percentage of that income?

I have got to re-educate myself regarding residual incomes. Are any GetBiggers receiving any?

I do realize that there are a good number of movie fans on this site as well as a few individuals who are involved within the motion picture industry, so those few may lie interested in my motion picture entertainment observations  and possibly even have a few pro or con observations of  your own.

Feel free to jump in and tear me apart if you disagree with any of my Hollywood entertainment forecasts.

First … I’ll say the motion picture theaters are in for a big downfall within the next 5 years.

I’ll explain why I feel that way if there is any interest in this topic.

A few years back I forecast the failure of many U.S. shopping malls and that forecast is proving to be pretty damn accurate today..

But let’s see if my entertainment forecasts are just as accurate.

If they are able to put all them asses into seats then God bless them, they deserve it.

one of the dumbest posts i have read here....

3 bil in revenue and everyone involved is a billionaire?  pretty sure there are more than 3 people involved.

also theater grosses on huge upswing  marked by 3 billion taken by a movie with men in spandex. This is not a sign of decline.

Asinine post marked

As the cost per square inch drops for flat panel screens, and the size gets bigger, everyone will be able to afford a movie theater at home. Then factor in streaming video and new movie powerhouses like Netflix and Amazon and poof, theaters are old news.

You are correct Stunt- it’s coming.

MOON, The studios will still produce major motion pictures as shown in that list above but not primarily for theaters ... but for home viewing such as stated by Hyper above.

I would guess that this big turn-around will be evident within the next five years.
