You're right, Trump has spent a lot of time on immigration reform and trying to get a wall built.

I think that you're an idealist. Politicians work for the vote. Midterm elections are 4 months away. Separating immigrant children from their parents was political suicide, no matter how Trump and his gang tried to spin it.

 

It may look bad in the short run, but it sends a message, and if a politician puts his foot down, it will result in less illegal immigration in the long run.
