Where Pellius is from There are Rainbows!
« on: June 19, 2018, 10:08:45 AM »
Now that Pellius is back and up and running, I thought it might be a good idea to show you his 'homeland" in case you ain't never been there.

I'll add a few comments along the way.

Here's Waikiki Beach. It's highly likely that I have walked /run that beach from Diamond Head to Fort Durussey more often than any living local ... or so they say!

This is the LAGOON at the Hilton Hawaiian Village complex. At one time they were considering the construction of a Disneyland type submarine ride there.

But that idea soon sunk!

Here's one of those rainbows that Pellius likely sees quite often.

So often that these rainbows are simply taken for granted!

No big thing, brudda!

And these beautiful creatures a couple of hundred yards or so off the North Shore beaches.

A common sight during their running season  (there is a whaling  name for that running season) but never taken for granted!

When they "jump" (there is a whaling term for that also) everyone stops what they're doing to see the beauty and dexterity of these ocean giants.

The Kahunas claim that they can hear their Whale Songs!

But I ain't no good Kahuna.

PELLIUS lives where you can enjoy the privacy of your own beach and where there no "do not' signs nor parking fees ... so you can do anything you want ....  even smoke some weed in your birthday suit and have a one way conversation with a Huhuhumu- nakuaka  while knee deep in the crystal clear water. (I think I spelt that wrong.)

But some private beach-n-eers prefer the magic mushrooms and venture out a bit deeper to discuss matters of a more intelligent nature.

For most of you GetBiggers ... you'd have to experience the magic of these magic mushrooms and the wonder of this private beach  .... to really understand what the hell I'm speaking about.

But .. Don't try it at home! Unless you live where Pellius lives.

By the way ...When I was a kid, I used to chase those rainbows, but the closer I got .... the further they went .... so I never found that pot of gold.

It is possible that a Kahuna did.

This is all true stuff! And I am hopeing that Pellius will back me up if he ever knew a Kahuna like Reverend Saul. The only name I knew him by.

There's even  Rainbow Drive-In under a neon rainbow where I am sure Pellius has dined and enjoyed a few paper plates of Loco-Moco (Moko??) more than once in his lifetime.

Or possibly he may prefer the Zippy's brand.

Oh yea! I forgot to add the Loco Moco.

Actually it's very good and a common staple in Hawaii.

Just ask Pellius, who is probaly still sleeping over there.

This one is made with a hamburger patty, but most locals prefer two slices of Spam instead of the patty.

Get on a plane, fly to Hawaii, and order a Loco Moco. Or better yet, contact Pellius first to let him know you're on your way.

He will most likely take you out for your first Loco Moco fine dining experience. The people of Hawaii are very generous when it comes to Hawaii style gatherings.

Just make sure you greet him with a "Shaka-brah!".

Thanks for the thanks, Howard, I had just this very minute in another post  .... recommnded that you get active now that you are 60 ... by following the 10,000 steps a day routine.

Add the pedometer app on your cellphone.

Do that and avoid oncoming traffic and you'll be living a lot longer than those who don't.

Very colorful place where Pellius is from.

They definitely live in a different kind of filter than we do here in Sweden.

RATHERB, LOL. I hope you manage to experience Hawaii one of these days. I would recommend places which are so perfectly beautiful, that it would melt your eyeballs!

In the meantime .... Listen to some great Hawaiian music. I'll be glad to provide further info if you show an interest.

I suggest that you and other GetBiggers start with 'IZ'. A foremost Hawaii legend who passed away in the 90's but who will be remembered forever by anyone who has a true Hawaii heart.

I always like Stunts threads, part of me visualizes him as the Hank Marlow character played by John C Reilly in Kong: Skull Island

Actually part of me visualizes him as many John C Reilly characeters as he goes on with these great stories from the past

NELSON, Thanks (I think).

I've never met John C. but he is a family friend and you also mentioned something else that was interesting.

I'll be sending you a message thing about that something else thing.

RATHERB, It looks like I will have to throw you in the Toilet Bowl if I ever run into you in Hawaii.

But ... Once you see it you won't need any help ftom me because it's one of the major toutist attractions at Haunama Bay on the island of Oahu and you'll be glad to jimp in on your own accord and experience the short lived life of a turd as it gets flushed away.

You can check out that toilet bowl action on YouTube which I don't know how to post here, but here is a boring shot of what the toilet bowl looks like before the flushing starts and all the toilet bowl turds get washed away with big fat smiles on their faces.

its meant as a compliment because like many of John's characters you have a good natured, way of telling stories and most are informative but also with some silly out there in a good way but kind of wink/toungue in cheek humour, kinda like you could walk in the room and without intending to would just steal the show and get great interest and laughs

every time I see John C Reilly in a movie, I know I will be entertained no matter how good or bad the film is, or if its comedy or drama, he just has it, and so do you

OK, Thanks, Nelson! I sent you a msg.

REGARDING that toilet bowl   .... On stormy days when the waves are huge, I've been thrown 3 to 4 feet out of that bowl and sucked all the way to the bottom as that water leaves the bowl and heads back to sea.

And on one exceptionally stormy day ... a young kid got his leg stuck at the mid-depth level and could not get loose, so one of us jumped in and held him while the toilet bowl water repeatedly rose a couple of feet over his head and only allowed him to breathe as the water receded until it rose above his head again and again.

It took a good number of 'flushes" before one individual was able to 'unlock' his leg and push him out before the toilet bowl took his life.

And just a few yards away there is a small hole in the lava rock which is the entrance to a very narrow underwater tunnel that leads to the small channel that feeds the toilet bowl. Kids are small enough to maneuver through this underwater tunnel but I've warned the &guy kids to Not do it !!!...

But some do it anyway .. just because I said , "Don't!".

Damn kids!

OK, here’s one more Hawaii horror story before you kids get into your pajamas.

Out by the Hawaii Kai residential area there is a large peninsula of land  that is surrounded the Pacific  on three sides.

This peninsula is called Portlock and is the home of some of Hawaii’s most expensive and spectacular homes with a never ending view of the Pacific.

The homes looking towards the Diamond Head direction sit atop huge cliffs that fall straight down into the ocean.

I am bad at estimating heights, but this one Portlock cliff is very high.

High enough to place permanent steel plates into the rock describing the number of deaths that have resulted as a result of jumping from this exact spot into the incoming waves far below.

The picture below is Portlock, but that cliff ain't the highest cliff in Portlock!

And I have a friend who loves that kind of dare-devil shit. He's a Hollywood hero, but I never mention Hollywood hero names unless they decide to jump into their own very true story.

But that story has gotta wait cause I’m heading out to rob a casino.

I just hope that Pellius shows up to verify this shit!

Iz was on my T-ball team, the Palolo Braves. He was the typical fat kid that got picked on and was a disaster on the field. I felt sorry for him. I never took part in the constant hazing but wish I stuck up for him. Courage does not come naturally and must be developed. I remember once he actually crapped in his pants and was walking with legs spread to the bathroom crying while everybody was heckling and teasing him.

BTW Stunt, what do you mean by "now that I'm back"? I never left.

The public isn't even allowed now to walk over to that side of the beach. Once again our nanny government feel it is their job to look after us and tell us what they think is safe or not for us. Nothing. Nothing is 100% safe. It's the classic freedom versus security and safety dilemma. The question is not whether or not something is safe or bad for your health but rather who should decide. You or the government? This country was founded on freedom and liberty. People making decisions for themselves and suffering the consequences for their decisions. It so disturbing about how willing people are to give up their freedoms for the comfort and security of letting the government make those decisions for them.
But we locals know that back route around the mountains to get to the toilet bowl.

Yup, needless to say I am not the dare devil kind and thought those guys were crazy. BTW, Portlock is where Dogg lives. I lived about three miles away on the other side of Kalanianaole Hwy on Lunalio Home Rd. I went to Koko Head elementary and sometimes I would cut school and go to Hanauma Bay when you could just cut through the mountains. In the summer I could walk there from my house or I could go the other direction and cut through the mountains near Kamiloiki Elementary on my bike and go to Sandy Beach. It depended on my mood. If I wanted to chill it was Hanauma where you could snorkel and practically pet the fish since for generations it's been a protected area and all people have been doing for generations was feeding them so the fish had zero fear of humans. Sometimes a fish would poke you if your were ignoring them and feeding another fish. Of course if I was in the mood for the most wicked shore breakers in the world then it was Sandy's.

Those were good times to be a kid. When you could just be outside on feet or on your bike without all these restrictions. Sure we got hurt. So what. It's part of life. But I sure miss those days. I just took it for granted that I could could just walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and "frolic" with the fish or I could bike to one of the best body surfing spots on this planet year round. And I had the time to do so.

Hah! Being an oldster I'm starting to get like you, Stunt. Reminiscing like an old fart. I guess when there are more years behind you than in front of you it's inevitable. I still can't get over the fact that I'm pushing 60 years old.

Where do you live?

somewhere with a lot more history and significance than hawaii who nobody cares about

i dont wanna live on a tropical island

i want all four seasons. i want variety.

beach is ok, for two weeks. then it gets old.
