Having a weight limit for classic is ridiculous and will kill someone eventually.

Doesn't the pro league and NPC have judges good enough to place people according to the classic criteria?

I actually wanted to hit on this point in a previous post, but I got... sidetracked. The guys who do well in physique and classic tend to look more impressive under specific conditions. Their genetic potential wouldn't necessarily translate to open, and the restrictions in their divisions  and their curated instagram profiles kinda exaggerate how "genetically elite" they are.

These pics are recent from sergio oliva instagram.  Look at the difference between the open competitor vs the physique/classic guys. (The black guy is steve laureus, up and comer) They both look like works of art when they are alone, but they almost look like regular gym rats standing next to an open competitor. That's why there are so many physique competitors. The barrier to entry is so low. That doesn't mean there are more spectators or more prize money.

I like Sergio, but someone should tell him you dont wear suspenders with a belt.

It’s a lot like car racing with all the different categories
An F1 being at the Top.

Men’s junior novice intermediate ‘Bikini’ & classic classes
And The open Bodybuilding Class at The Top.

Unless the money and sponsors starts shifting, open class will probably still remain at the top.

But social media has made the other types of physiques more popular.

Correct & very true.

I don’t mind the classic class some great zane type physiques.
Can’t stand or fathom the men’s Bikini ( board shorts ) class
No closed hands - poncing up & down the stage,
Train chest / shoulders / arms & a bit of back width.!!!
It’s almost like a physically disabled class.

Nah, he won that NY Pro fair and square, I just don't understand why he cares why Regan and Cody are trying to do Classic, he should be happy, it's less competition for him, with them not being in the open only increases his chances of placing well.

He actually left social media when his wife split with him.  He came back because his sponsor dropped him and his first post back was blasting his sponsor for not supporting him through thick and thin, so he probably has to stay on social media to keep his new sponsor.

is sergio jr a wife beater like his old man?

This topic has been discussed about 5000 times already. I’m stunned that you took the time to make a thread about.

sergio vs beundia beef has been discussed 5000 times already? it happened only the day before?

Men's physique and bikini are far more popular than bodybuilding these days, hence they generate the most revenue.

Many "pros" took offense, some might even say umbrage, to this and went on a series of instagram rants.
Sergio Oliva Jr. is about on par with Buendia in terms of maturity, which allowed for a entertaining read.

The sad fact is that bodybuilding, as it was, is dying a slow painful death.
Classic physique is not helping.

Did anyone see the NPC Jr. Nationals bodybuilding line up?
There were like 5 people in some classes, and 0 people in the lightweights.
Could not have been more than 40 competitors.

Classic, bikini and mens physique easily had more than 125 each.
This is where the revenue is.
Little boy Beundia sees it, its funny how many "pros" don't

Just like printed magazines ; Bodybuilding is dying ...... Now anything can be perceived as "more popular"  from a bikini chick , to a beautiful guy with abs and great hair " Is the easy access to social media that allows this to happen !    the days of Lee Haney on ESPN , Arnold and Ferrigno on mainstream media are 25 years behind .....

Sergio's personality is a like a cockier, pettier, and whiner version of Phil.  But he doesn't have 75% of the physique. Have mercy on us all if this whiny asshole wins an Olympia.

I follow Sergio Oliva on instagram and I've been tempted to start a living thread about how much of a basket case he is. He's not as well-known as Phil Heath, which is fortunate for him, because Oliva's antics put Heath to shame. He has a massive meltdown every few days.

Didn't know if this was worth a new thread, but in:re Oliva being a basketcase, was just going through instagram stories and saw that he is  now flying with his dog as a registered emotional support animal. In all fairness, a lot of people do this to game the system, so it's not necessarily a sign of him being mentally unstable. Sometimes they don't want to put their pets in cargo and you don't have to pay a fee if your animal is classified as emotional support. But still, it seems like it would be kinda embarrassing to be a 250 lb pro bodybuilder walking around in public with an emotional support dog.

LOL I mentioned this practice to someone in real life, and they said they didn't think it was so strange.  I haven't been faced with having to fly with my dog yet, but they said they just couldn't bare to put their pets in cargo. Maybe it's not so strange?  I would opt for another option, like driving, if I had to travel a long distance with my dog, but maybe that's just me.

I'd rather have a plane full of people traveling with dogs, then people traveling with crying kids.

Pumping copious amounts of synthetic hormones and stimulants through your body and being in the mental state to need an emotional support animal is a contraindicator. Hopefully he doesn't use alcohol or recreational drugs.  Anyway, he still annoying as hell.
