I had a chance to interview John Terilli for the Bodybuilding Legends Show - &t=1931sIn Part One, John talks about bodybuilding in Australia, his thoughts on the 1980 Mr. Olympia and winning his class at the 1982 NABBA Mr. Universe in London.
I was around his gym when he came back to win the pro universeGuy trained so smart, perfect form and got in shape real fast it was impressive.
Incredible interview John. Thank you. I used to chat with John Terilli back east in 1989 and 90. He was living for a short while in New York and he woukd occasionally pop into Bob Bonhams Strong & Shapely. And I remember John doing an MTI Denie photoshoot at the gym around those years too. He looked unreal. Such an underrated but phenomenonal bodybuilder. Thanks again.
How is it possible that vince basile was not mentioned?
He was mentioned.
John good to hear you on Advices Radio also... Good stuff. D-Mass says Hello...
Some background to the Terilli interview. The IFBB in Australia was in disarray in 1982 so John entered another organization to compete. He won our contest and we sent him to London. John visited my gym before the contest and I helped him with his posing. Just the one occasion and I think he gained something that day. As it turned out he lost the overall to John Brown who perhaps outposed him. I always felt I could have helped John more. Anyway, I don't remember telling him he would place sixth! But that is what John says in the interview. In Australia we always give the places from low to first. In London John was called out first. He thought he had placed 6th! LOL. Funny the way he tells it. Years later John sent me an autographed photo of himself. Have a look at what he wrote.
