The end of an era in supplement company brands...

Effective Tuesday, June 26, 2018, Abbott made the decision to close the EAS business, which includes discontinuing all products marketed under the EAS brand, including EAS. EAS AdvantEdge and EAS Myoplex.  All products marketed under the EAS brand will no longer be produced.

In October 2004, Abbott bought EAS for $ 320 million dollars. EAS was founded by Bill Phillips way back in 1990.

Was just reading about Phillips and Connelly (Met-Rx) today. Used to like early MM2K (pre-internet) w/ Duchaine, TC Louma, Dr. X, etc.

Bill really cashed in when he sold EAS...

:-\.

EAS was my entry into the strength sports via Muscle Media 2000, and were the first supplements I bought on a consistent basis, and the ones I went back to when I dropped most of the fancy stuff. I'm a bit sad, at least as sad as you can be for a supplement brand.

Around $165 million I remember. While it was only around for a little bit as a hardcore company, it made a pretty big impact on the mid 90's bodybuilding scene.

Wasted a lot of money on HMB as a kid. Myoplex was solid though.

I bought an entire "kit" of their creatine, vanadyl sulphate, hmb and whatever else came with it back in 93. It was a solid company until he sold it...now I think he lives in Hawaii living the good life. Can't blame the guy...

That is sad indeed. The first EAS product I ever used was Phosphagen HP back in 1996. I loaded with it back then and BOY!!!!!! I thought it was the holy grail. I gained 7 lbs in one week and 5 lbs the next week, from 215 to 227. And did it boost my strength.

I deemed creatine the crack of supplements. The first time you use it, it blows you away. I've never replicated those gains again. That can cost me $60 back then. But, at the time, I thought it was worth it.

It's hard to believe that similar products to Phosphagen HP cost $12-$15 these days.

The only bright side to this sad ending is all the Myoplex I can get on clearance (I hope).

The only one I remember was Shannon Sharpe. He's still in the ads in Bill Phillips' Sports Supplement Review 1997, which I got for Christmas from a friend over 20 years ago.

Also Bill Romanowski I remember a feature where he claimed to not eat food and sustained on supplements.

I remember Gabe Kapler, Brady Anderson, Elway (very short time) also had EAS deals. During the play offs I also remember a big stink being made by the sports press because lots of Broncos were rocking EAS turtle necks, and similar during interviews.

Actually, yes...cybergenics is still being made

Vince what type of advice would you have offered to the EAS parent company (to remain profitable) if they had asked?

Thank you.
