Seeing a white man for the first time

Stumpy Brown is a Wangkujanka woman who lives at Christmas Creek in the Kimberley.

Stumpy has seen many changes throughout her lifetime but nothing so dramatic,

when as a teenager, she saw a white man for the first time.



A riveting story!


Makes you wonder, if they could live like that for so long (eating lizards etc) before encountering westerners, would Africa have been the same?

Interesting how some parts of the world had technology gains and some remained in the stone age.

Some societies never advanced.

Perhaps it is due to the lack of written language to enable the passing on of ideas and knowledge.

I think it’s a fairly safe bet it would be just the same without them meeting the white Man
