Are they doing anything illegal? Or, is it a legal hoophole?
Just because something is not morally right, doesn't mean it's outright illegal. If he's working within the bounds of the law, then he has not broken any laws. Getbiggers always stress the importance of following the law and Bezos is following the law. Don't be upset because your sensitive snowflake feelings are hurt.
Yup, its legal:
"Amazon avoids paying federal taxes using a variety of tax credits and tax exemptions that are legal and built into the U.S. federal tax code. Some of these can include the research and development tax credit which allows them to deduct some of the costs of new investments and also a big one for this past year was the ability to deduct stock-based compensation of executives."
"These reflect the normal workings of the tax system, according to Annette Nellen, professor and director of the Master of Science in Taxation program at San Jose University. I would stress Amazon is just following the provisions that are in the law, Nellen said."
Many companies do it. He's doing absolutely nothing wrong and operating within the bounds of the law. He just found some way to become worth 140 billion dollars and you have not. Epic jealousy.
