-Good response with one exception. There is no such person as a typical leftist, European or otherwise, just as there is no typical ring-wing person. Referring to people in stereotypes is just lazy thinking. You're a smart fellow. You can do better than this.
It is exceptional that a thread about a fast food restaurant has become a catalyst for abundant and varied posts, some having absolutely nothing to do with McDonald's. 'Melting down' over imagined political connotations of patronizing McDonald's is the height of absurdity.
Craving one of these:

Not true, Prime (may I call you Prime?). There are reasons for labels. Of course, there are subtle differences but someone on the Left and someone on the Right has specific traits. Some general, some specific. A general observation is an almost diametrically opposed worldview between the Western Europeans and the U.S. Again this doesn't mean every single individual and it does vary by degrees. The U.S. is more defined by Capitalism, Religiosity and a strong military and the willingness to use it. The Europeans are more defined by Socialism, Secularism, and Pacificism.
Now you may say, "Well, I'm not religious. We spend too much on defense. I support more government regulations..." Well, that's you. But that's not the country. We are still primarily a religious country (far, far more so than Europe), still have the most formidable military and plan to keep it that way, and make it even greater under Trump, and still believe in a market economy.
But what is truly outrageous and absurd, is this moron having such a meltdown that someone considers McDonald's a great fast food chain and emblematic of the American way. A small business growing into an international empire simply by providing goods and services that people want. He tries to minimize my life but I go on living it and enjoying it in Hawaii and feel very grateful and thankful for winning life's lottery simply by being born here having access to places like McDonald's at my fingertips. This guy seems like such a little, petty, whiny, poor excuse for a man by obsessing over this. How pathetic his life must be to give even a nanosecond of thought to this. It is beyond comprehension that I would care one iota what he thinks of me going to McDonald's. It's crazy to even be saying this. I mean, I thought it was kind of tongue in cheek, as you probably gather by my posts, but this guy is serious. Does MORTALCOIL strike you as a happy man? "Why so serious, bro?"
