Yup. It's as humorous as the current crop of newscasters who are obliged to stretch out every story for days and end up boring everyone to death. The local nightly news is good enough for me. Life(for me) is too short to spend it glued to the mostly negative media. It is definitely healthier to have some fun with what's going on than it is to get all serious about stuff over which we have no control.

When and if something important happens, we're sure to know about it, even if we never subscribed to the media.

You've missed the point. I'm not interested in being told what to think by anyone, including the media. When there is an actual event worth knowing about, I'll find out about it. As it stands everything is speculation and opinion, even though many folks like to think they're getting the truth. IMO, there are much better ways to spend one's time than on that over-which we have no control.
