You’re not wrong, here. It’s an intervention that had to be implemented as a result of another intervention, tariffs. However, the difference is that the endgame is having all of these tariffs removed by other countries and have free trade.

Which will never happen because, as Trump correctly noted, other countries are enjoying an unfair advantage and a massive protectionist/trade imbalance against the American economy.
