Politically a kind of retraction will occur where local authority will overide centralized decision making. This in itself will unhinge all sorts of conflicts.
Trump was good as in breaking taboos but he can't just make politics as he likes and he has, like any leader, a lot of people which finely control him. Leeway is only given for bread and circus and decisions which do not really change the modus operandi. The only chance is Trump being an ego-maniac and, despite all warnings, going through with different "plans".
People like Michael Scheuer, despite being a kind of "nut" himself, could lead the US back on track if allowed to do so. America needs to retreat and heal itself or it will die.
