did a living trust, should have Done it myself
« on: August 12, 2018, 10:58:49 PM »
wanted to get my affairs In order, so when I croak, everything would be done, with no probate. did some research on line, found some sites like legal zoom, etc, that would do living trusts. looked like they were about 500 bucks. so I got a recommendation from a friend, and this guy was a lawyer, and charged 1000 bucks. I took the easy way out, and let the lawyer do me and my wife's final will and trust. shit, he didn't do anything that I could have done online. the day before the final signing, he called me for some info, like the prick had just started working on everything. he had to mail some deeds to the county recorder, I could have done that my self!!!

its all over with now, but looking back, I should have followed my instincts and done it myself. but now all of my powerlifting trophies will go to my kids, as its in my will and last testament. (I'm sure they will want them :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*)

So you're saying you should have done it via ZOOM or literally by yourself?  Thinking about doing one myself.  Have some assets again in the 7 figures after about 20 years of floundering around, LOL.  Don't want the wife to go through it in a few years, LOL.

It's possible you could have done it yourself but why take the chance of screwing it up?

$1000 is a good deal by the way.

Risk vs. reward.

Yes that sometimes happens. But 1000 bucks is not the end of the world.

I have seen ads for LegalZoom saying it was $199.  You sure you didn't get a bad quote.

But better have a legal expert tie it all off nicely.  Hope you spelled my name right.

It's easy to make the mistake of thinking the lawyer or accountant is on your side.  He's on his own side.
