The problem with keeping Christianity as a guidebook to inform social mores and even legislation is that it was done for about 1200 years in Europe and led to wars, occupations, annexations, genocide, and all sorts of mayhem while protecting the top 1%, since in countries like Russia and England the monarchy was considered ordained by a higher power and the peoples' situation in life was also determined by God and had to be accepted. It was the best scam ever to come along until capitalism.
That, and a lot of pooper troopers would complain if Christian-style laws were reinstated to govern private behavior, like it used to be. England only dropped its anti-gay legislation around 1988, despite being a democratic Western country and (until about 15 years ago) a model country for freedom of speech in the European continent. The irony is that when Muslims take over, which they already are in the big cities and small communities, Christian societies will look idyllic by comparison.
