I dare you to learn portuguese. Or any other language besides english. English is the easiest language to learn. Even birds can speak it.

learn Spanish. it is easy. I taught myself to speak enough to convey what I needed, all within a week of watching you tube videos while doing cardio and speaking the language here and there with my wife.

then you can speak and understand Portuguese well enough to have a basic conversation

while Portuguese does have some words that are hard to pronounce for me, it's way easier then I'd imagine English being for others.

The thing with the portuguese vs english language is, one english word can be applied to 10 different meanings/concepts, wereas one concept in portuguese has 10 different words to describe it.
I am portuguese, born and raised, and have trouble understanding spanish, like in a normal conversation.  And thrust me, the spanish have a even harder time, understanding us. You must be truly gifted, or have psychic habilities, to speak and understand street talked portuguese, when you have "spanish for dummies" language level.
Not to mention that you have several spanish dialects, Castellano, Catalán, Gallego, and the nightmare Vasco. And then you have the South American gems.

Spot on.

I'm a native spanish speaker, we can't understand spoken portuguese at all. I'd say we can read it a little bit, cause there are so many similar words in spanish, but listening to it or speaking it it's a whole different thing.

English is fairly simple to read and write. The listening and speaking parts take some time thou.

"Vasco" meaning Basque ? That's a totally different language family,though, isn't it?

The Spanish dialects you mentioned and Portuguese are all Romance languages, originating from Latin, along with French,Italian and Romanian.

England was conquered by the French Normans in 1066. So,the English language has a lot of French loan words, that in turn have their origin in Latin. So, an educated English speaker, with a large vocabulary, can often get the "sense" of a written sentence in Spanish and Portugese or other Romance languages. Of course, that's nowhere near "knowing" the language or being able to speak it.

Also in portuguese, every thing has a gender that you need to learn in order to have a conversartion. Everything is a she or a he while in english things are genderless like in (THE boy, THE girl)  vs (O menino, A menina). Another examples: (THE montain, THE car, THE door) vs (A montanha, O carro, A Porta) Montain and Door are girls, while the Car is a boy.

"Some demonstrators burned tents. One man used a bulldozer to tear down an informal shelter as local residents cheered in support. Panicked Venezuelans bundled their belongings in bags and lined up at the border crossing to head back to their country. At one point, some Venezuelans ran for the hills as Brazilians chased them."

We should take 1 million Venezuelans in on the condition that they have to stay in Bernie Sanders home state of Vermont and they can’t accept any federal aid.

Yes. The transgender lunatics will have a real challenge to find "neutral" pronoms in portuguese. :D
