Still settling in.. just drove my car down from Memphis Airport today. Still unpacking but the initial impression so far is positive. The weather is great, we keep hearing from the people that moved here from up north that this weather is brutal. It was 87 today and yes it was muggy from the rain earlier, but it was a walk in the park for us coming from Texas and Arkansas. The neighborhood is gated with security, has a golf clubhouse, fitness center and Olympic pool, 3 restaurants for members. Driving out of the community there is a lot to do within 10 miles. Already booked some concerts at a local venue and bought tickets to see Buccaneers play the Steelers. I think we are going to like this place.

Gated community with security = trying to keep out the blacks.
Gated communities are awesome for property values......but more needed to keep out the Hispanics.

Tampa isn't as expensive as Austin was... The weather and amenities, international airport, etc made me move. I'm new to the Tampa and Florida life, but I'll give it 2 years, if we don't like it, we will try somewhere else

I take this back, Agnostic, I believe you should head for LA, probably downtown, you'd fit right in.
Its really not a have to here. There were a lot of homes we looked at outside of gated communities, some I would have picked over this one just because it was on the water in St. Pete but it was the wife's turn to pick as I picked the last place and she liked the community. But again, I don't know enough about the Tampa area to argue much, although the research I've done on the web indicate some of the neighborhoods are high up on the list nationwide to live and many are top of the list in Florida. Got a license plate with a shark on it today... tell me that ain't friggin' cool!
100% black mid-professional communities in TX, LA and GA I'm 100% comfortable. 100% Mexican (phucking East LA) and White (phucking busybodies, nosing ATF, won't mind their own business and disgusting) I'll pass.
