For his health, he should just retire.
I mean, why stop now. Steroids and all hormones they inject didn't just become a health problem.

At some point it has to reverse itself... "I've already done so much damage to myself, I need to make it worth it now!"

From a career perspective he should have quit after 2 or 3rd Olympia, gone out on top, and focused on business. Instead he has left a legacy of a worsening physique, a champ who was beaten, and a person who has become increasingly bitter, with a diminished prospect of business success as a result.

Shawn appears to be a weak Mr. Olympia, a one timer like Dickerson. I think should come back but he has to change things up.

I agree. He has subpar arms, a small chest, a weak back and weak calves. Roelly was more impressive to me than Shawn was.

He wants the ten and said he will get the ten or die trying. So yes he will be on that stage of the immortals again next year.

For the most part, if you compare body parts, Phil has superior development.  His midsection and lack of conditioning got him.  If he can solve those two issues, he can win again and take the title back.  Most people wrote Jay off, then he came back in 2009 and wiped the floor with everyone.

True. Rhoden beats him on chest and abs. That's it. But the way he is put together with those wide shoulders and narrow waist gave such a superior overall presentation.

All Phil has to do is lose the gut and they will give it back to him. I'm not sure if it's possible. I'm not sure if it's a permanent condition where your ab muscles have stretched out causing a permanent distention. I had an umbilical that I ignored for almost a year as I didn't know what it was until it really stretched out my gut. After surgery, it tightened up a lot but the abs are permanently stretched out and distended.

That one flaw ruins everything and the IFBB gas gotten the message -- finally.

Yes, weak arms and back. It really opens up things for guys like Roelly, Brandon, Kulco ... a lot of other guys that are bigger but still have good lines. If Ramy doesn't get it together next year then I'd look to Roelly and Brandon.

Rhoden has a beautiful physique but not the freak factor that you'd expect from a Mr. O. More a classic physique type.

Still, he was better than Phil. I would have gone with Roelly. But his win is taking the sport in the right direction.

In Phil's defense , he was off , it was close and he can still win again. Shawn wasn't eons better with that being said the old adage didn't apply , you have to KO the champ. Shawn won I think it's a fair call but he didn't outclass him he just accumulated more mandatories

This^^^^^^

Also, in my opinion Phil still wins the BDB RLS. All Phil has to do is lose the bloated gut which will make him win the side poses against Rhoden. Bring back his conditioning he's known for and it's lights out for Rhoden or anyone else.

He certainly needs to lose the gut & sort out his condition
Probably down size / drop around 12/15 pounds.
Though His physique has been getting progressively worse
the last 3/4yrs he wasn't the best physique last year yet he
still won - This year he just looked to awful from the front to
over look it.

I don't understand all of the calls for retirement after they lose.  He will probably still place top 4-5 and could still win some other shows.  This is how these guys make money.  It is obvious health is not a factor, so why stop?  What is the price difference between 1st and 2nd or 3rd at the Olympia?  If he can still make a living, let him.  Who cares about a tarnished legacy.

He could comeback and win. The Olympia lineup is older and a bit weak, so it's more level than years past. That being said, I don't think Phil is the type of guy that could accept another loss. Also while there is a chance he could win, there is also the chance he could wind up 2 - 4th. Mentally that could wreck him a bit.

If he retires now he's a 7 time Mr. O that just got beat, no shame in that.

He looked good in 2016. Great conditioning.

Looks better in that pic
even there he's got something growing out of his belly button
& abs not great / gut quite thick / big.

condition ok though far from being dry & ripped.

His mid section started to get real thick from 2013.

I think he was very dry and ripped in 2016 (pic below).

Kuclo can’t get in shape. He seems to just show up for his contractual obligations. Roelly, possibly. Brandon more of a possibility.

Failed at basketball and gave up
Failed at marriage and being a stepdad and gave up
Failed at defending himself on line and gave up -had his mom come on and defend him and blocked comments
Failed at owning a supp company and gave up
Failed at being sponsored by muscletech and gave up
Failed at being Mr Olympia and gave up

He should give the mods their balls back, too. They're gotten a little too sensitive and snowflakey lately, deleting threads that hurt their feelings n' shit.
