They shouldn't allow spotters in powerlifting. It makes it look more like a clown show than it already does. They don't have them in weightlifting. It's just the lifter and the weights, which is how it should be.

Seeing the occasional lifter crushed by the weights would add zest.

As it is powerlifting is about as exciting as watching snow melt.

Yup. Just walk up to the bar in an Olympic weightlifting style suit and do your business. No bench shirts, excessive wrapping, 20 fat guys standing around to "spot," etc. As it is now it's just a clown show.

While I love Powerlifting, I just dont like the equipped version. My favorite era in the Irongame, is 70's Powerlifting.

Doug Young, Vince Anello, my bud Ted Arcidi (going to his house on SAT), Mike Bridges, Ricky Crane, Reinhoudt, etc...

And I dont even mind the early bench shirts that they used to put on themselves (Marathon) but then it got silly.
(Ted used an early Marathon type shirt for his 705 bench in Hawaii, put it on themselves,and arms didnt hang out front like Frankenstein).
Raw lifting has made a comeback recently, so all is good. (Belts and sleeves are OK in current raw) I have no issue w/ that.

I'd like to know Fortress's opinion on the gear usage in PL.

Didn't Larry Wheels do more than this in an unequipped meet? 
No question this guy is strong as fuck, but he is quite a ways behind the top guys it seems.

Funk, yes great book, great era in PL. Terry (RIP) was a legend himself. He and Jan signed my copy of this book,and its my favorite one as it relates to PL.

Equipped lifting simply got/is out of control.

Some modest support-type gear is OK, but I’m mostly about raw/classic lifting.
