Canadian Rachel McKinnon finished ahead of the field at the women’s sprint 35-39 age bracket at the world cycling championship on Sunday. Many have praised her achievement, but some say it was cheating, since she was born male.
McKinnon is the "first" transgender woman ever to win gold at the UCI Masters Track Cycling World Championships. The event was organized by USA Cycling and took place in Los Angeles under the auspices of the International Cycling Federation (ICF).

Before the final race, McKinnon set a world record in the quarterfinals – which only stood for 10 minutes.

Can you really blame them?

In the past, I used to see these stories and basically say, well, they're competing in some high school thing that really doesnt matter. That's all about learning lessons for the most part. But, is it escalating? Apparently, this bike race was for adults so perhaps they are more serious athletes. I'm sure they were drug tested, but it would be interesting to see their hormone levels. Even if they aren't the same, is there some "wash out period" from when you basically had nuts and/or were pumping yourself full of hormones necessary to change your physiology?

In Thailand, the ladyboy transgenders compete against men, usually in Muay Thai and Volleyball and many have actually done really well, including winning the Volleyball championship.
