Team Trump often uses insults and ridicule of the liberal dems who disagree with them.
I used to think this was a dumb political idea . It's not and here's why.

The main political strategy was to "persuade" voters that weren't already in your camp.
In most elections, 1/3 are always with you, 1/3 are always against you and 1/3 are independent.
You felt good about your base of support and wanted to win most of the middle third.
That was a time tested general formula for political success.

Team Trump turned that idea upside down.
They simply grew the number of voters that already agreed with their side.

Using ridicule and insults gins up excitement and support for more like minded people.
Again, it's not about persuading those who may not agree.
It is all about trying to ridicule and diminish the "other side".
It's all about making it blue team vs red team in a winner take all event.

For a staunch "never Trumper" (like me) it's unlikely a Trump supporter will convert me personally.
But, by insulting me and my dem positions, they might look strong in the eyes of a poetential convert.

If more people feel you're side is stronger team, you win.
