Make medicare universal.

https://www.hhs.gov/answers/medicare-and-medicaid/what-is-the-difference-between-medicare-medicaid/index.html

The indigents can use medicaid.

You might be onto something. With health insurance, the larger the pool, the better it works. Older folks, like me, who qualify for Medicare are more likely to be or get sick. Medicaid covers some people who qualify for it because of their low income. At least there is a mix of ages and healthiness verses wellness.

A big unsolved issue is how to fund single payer insurance. Everyone has to pay into it and currently almost all who have some sort of income does. Employers pay into it too. But how much they do depends on how many folks are on the payroll. A huge pool could mean reduced expenses by having the ability to control drug prices, doctor and hospital fees. Would that be enough? Many countries have socialized medicine. How and what are they doing and is it working?

Whether your views are conservative or liberal doesn't change that all government expenses are payed for from our tax dollars. It is impossible to reduce taxes while increasing benefits. One or the other has to go.

bingo!

Single payer, aka "medicare for all" is a superior plan.
I don't think the avg persona realizes that HMO's are "for profit" companies.
That means, 20-30% of every health insurance dollar goes to investors.
Yup, it doesn't go to a doctor, hospital or even a drug company.
It goes directly into the picket of an outside, 3rd party investor.

It's that dumbass, narrow-minded, thought process that would fuck up America's healthcare system worse than the cluster Osamacare has.  Care to explain why over 55,000 people A YEAR come to the US from Canada for life saving medical treatment and surgeries?  And where do you think the money for this "free" medical care comes from?

care to explain where you got that number from?

i'll answer that, the fraser report,
https://www.fraserinstitute.org/sites/default/files/leaving-canada-for-medical-care2015.pdf

which clearly states

While there is no readily available data on the
number of Canadians travelling abroad for
health care, it is possible to produce an estimate
of these numbers from data gathered
through the Fraser Institute’s Waiting Your
Turn survey and from the Canadian Institute

Yep, because the VA system works so well. Let's just multiply that cluster by 1000 and see how that works. That's exactly what would happen with single payer in this country.

Make medicare universal.

Good question and not yet 65, I'm not sure about every detail.
All I do know  is that it covers 80% of most health care for those 65+.

I think it's a good system overall.

The ole saying that we are all supposed to all take our turn pulling the wagon before we get into the wagon....

Many seniors going on medicare this year will have already paid into it for 40 plus years via medicare payroll taxes prior (40 years of paying into medicare before taking money out) and yet even with this fact medicare is set to go bankrupt in 2026, yet dummy's like Howard want to add 100's of millions more people (most who have never taken their turn pulling the wagon) and never consider what that will to to us as a Country.

Liberalism truly is a mental disorder.

Read a stat that 23% of Americans get FREE healthcare.

That is 70 million people!

We ALREADY HAVE government run healthcare in this country!

Why should some get FREE healthcare and some (the working folk) have to pay for it?

I want FREE healthcare too!

Right now my employer and myself pay over $25,000 a year for my families health insurance.

Ok, for starters, the first 25%- 30%  of every health Ins dollar goes to a private investor.
It doesn't go to a doctor, hospital, patient of drug company, etc.

Getting rid of the private Ins part would immediately reduce cost by 25%.
PLUS, it would reduce /stream line paper work now required by these same health ins executives.

It was a GOV agency that built the 1st atomic bomb in 3 years.
It was a GOV agency that put a man on the moon.
It was a GOV agency that built the US interstate hwy system.
A GOV agency could do a much cheaper and better job at running health care.
The private for profit health care ins want to make $$$ off health care.

Ask a senior citizen if they want to end medicare and see what they say.

So how exactly are you gonna pay for it Howard ?

Estimated cost for "Medicare for all" is 32 trillion

IRS current yearly income 4.2 trillion

'Medicare For All' Would Cost $32.6 Trillion, And That's Not Even The Worst Of It

https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/medicare-for-all-32-6-trillion-dollars-socialized-medicine/

So Liberals want to have Open Borders, and at the same time offer healthcare for all via "medicare for all"

We will become The United States of Venezuela in no time if Howard gets his way.

Your figures are way off and typical scare rhetoric from the investor class, that wants to take 20-30% off the top of every private company health ins dollar.

In my state of Ga, 8 rural hospitals have already closed .
The current Gov , Nathan Deal refused to expand Medicaid like Ohio and other states did.

Rural hospitals in critical condition

RICHLAND, Georgia — Stewart-Webster Hospital had only 25 beds when it still treated patients. The rural hospital served this small town of 1,400 residents and those in the surrounding farms and crossroads for more than six decades.

"Low Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements hurt these hospitals more than others because it's how most of their patients are insured"

The Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) was designed to improve access to health care for all Americans and will give them another chance at getting health insurance during open enrollment starting this Saturday. But critics say the ACA is also accelerating the demise of rural outposts that cater to many of society's most vulnerable. These hospitals treat some of the sickest and poorest patients — those least aware of how to stay healthy. Hospital officials contend that the law's penalties for having to re-admit patients soon after they're released are impossible to avoid and create a crushing burden.

So the low Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements plus ObamaCare is what hurt these hospitals and caused many to shut down in your State dummy.  So you can thank Obama (Obamacare) for their closures, (and yourself since you voted for him)

Someday I might get an education and obtain "get big forum" levels of intellect.

I suspect some of you think you're "owning " me with your superior political posts.
If you only knew the truth... ;)

You fat bag of shit, the truth is you came on here posting about the closing of many rural hospitals in your home state of Georgia, and I posted facts showing that one of main reasons was Obamacare... you know.. Obama.. the guy you voted for, so the truth is you are partly to blame for the closure of many rural hospitals in your State since you voted for Obama.  That shows you're an idiot.

And another reason was the Low Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements to these hospitals, you know the same Medicare you want to expand for all even though we cant afford it, and its low reimbursements hurts hospitals.  Once again showing you to be an idiot.

http://www.georgiahealthnews.com/2017/09/hospital-crisis-killing-rural-communities-state-ground-zero/

Here's the COMPLETE story with some related info for the rest of rural America's hospital.
You posted a story on one small, obselete hospital.

I've lived and gotten my health care in Ga for almost 20 years.
The current Gov ( Deal-R) refused medicaid expansion and that really cut funding .

many citizens living in rural areas don't have decent acess to a hospital now

One more time Dummy : Low Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements hurt these hospitals, you know the same Medicare you want to expand for all even though we cant afford it, and its low reimbursements hurts hospitals.  Once again showing you to be an idiot.

from your link you posted proves this too:

"Medicare payments have been reduced."

what Obama did was cut millions from medicare  which is something that seniors have paid into their entire adult life via payrol taxes, and transferred those million to pay for the expansion of Medicaid, which is something that many people get for free basically, so you take something away from someone who paid for it, and give it to many who who didn't pay for it, that is obamaCare for you.   Obama did this, and you voted for this shit.

That was the reduction of medicare by Obama you dummy.   Obama Cut $716 billion from Medicare to help pay for Obamacare
http://www.crfb.org/blogs/fiscal-fact-checker-what-did-president-obama-do-medicare

and another paragraph from the article you posted proves what I posted earlier that Obamacare hurt the hospitals :

"To find the funds to insure more people, the Affordable Care Act cut back a program to reimburse rural hospitals for bad debt. And cuts are coming to the Disproportionate Share Hospital program, which provides extra funding for hospitals that serve higher levels of low-income and uninsured patients."       Obama did this, and you voted for this shit.

also from the article you posted :

"Most rural hospitals were built decades ago and can’t afford upgrades, so they’re losing patients with private insurance ― which often pays better ― to regional hospitals with newer facilities. "   that means that private insurance from all those insurance carriers you hate and shit on pay better than medicare and medicaid, because obama cut medicare to help pay for obamacare.   Obama did this, and you voted for this shit.

The facts are the cuts in medicare reimbursement rates that was done by obama to pay for Obamacare hurt the hospitals,  plus the Obamacare law's and  penalties hurt the hospitals,  and the expansion of medicaid would not have fixed the problems  caused by the Obamacare laws and the reduction of medicare payments caused by obama.   Obama did this, and you voted for this shit.

read:

expanding Medicaid to all of the poorest patients -– which the ACA intended but 23 states including Georgia have not done, according to the federal government — would help, but wouldn't solve.     Do you understand what "would not solve" means Howard ?   Obama did this, and you voted for this shit.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/11/12/rural-hospital-closings-federal-reimbursement-medicaid-aca/18532471/

So once again you fat bag of shit, it was obama and his pile of shit obamacare that caused these hospitals to shut down, the same obama you voted for, and since you voted for obama that makes you liable for the shutting down of your own states rural hospitals

Conservative states like Utah just passed a ballot initiative to expand Medicaid in the recent mid-terms.
If you or a loved one gets a serious illness ( like cancer) you need regular access to a hospital.
Expanding Medicaid helps keep hospitals open in rural areas that would otherwise close.

That's a basic, practical fact that anyone can benefit from.

one more time dummy, Many hospitals are looking into the expansion of medicaid to help ( not fix) make up part of of what they lost from the cuts in medicare that obama did, and the loss in revenue caused from the obamcare laws.  So i steal 10 dollars from you howard with my right hand, but will then later give you 5 dollars from my left hand,  in the end the 5 i gave you helped, but it did not completely make up for the 10 i stole from you completely, even a dummy like you should be able to comprehend this
