all this stuff is a waste of time

As opposed to injecting copious amounts of steriods just to get big muscles and pose in a thong?

Ed Parker giggles at such folly.
Ed Parker's Kenpo is a complete and total waste of time if you want to learn to fight.  Unfortunately I know because I wasted years in that stupid art. :(

both are a waste of time , except someone going to gym a few times a week and using light weights can still look fit . . . without having to a punch a bag a thousand times and get their skull knocked around . . .

Very true
I often wonder who they are trying to impress - mainly themselves
Clearly They are Scared & are trying to scare others by telling how dangerous they are  ::)
Them sort are Fucking useless in a violent confrontational situation ( In my experience )

The Shotokan practicioners i've met during the years are usually quite tough, but none of that matters, since you need a gun these days.

That's where disarming techniques come into play. I'll take your gun away from you and wail on you.

Did shotokan when a teen.
I believe it's a bit too static. Boxing is 10 times more fluid and effective.
Not many men are going to use the kicks in the street, without proper warming up and streching, wearing regular jeans.

Regarding being hard on ones health, my former master, in his fifthies, has had both hips replaced, and has arthritis in his hands.

You need to get your ass kicked by a Karate Master. That is what it will take to put your mind right, evidently.

At your age, you will not reach karate master status anytime soon.

Everybody knows if you hit a front double biceps pose, in front of your attacker, he will run for his life.
